New grower, a few questions

Hey guys. Well, I have never posted here before, so first off, I will tell you a bit about myself. I'm from the lame ass state of Kansas! Woooo. Blah blah blah...

Anyway, this is my first grow. I bought Northern Lights seeds, already germinated them. They sprouted out of the cups I put them in, yay! I've got them on 18/6 light; 86 degrees; and 50 % humidity... I haven't had any problems yet, but I'm expecting that to come later.

Here are my questions:
1) How do I know when to transfer my plants from plastic cups into actual pots?

2) When does flowering begin? How do I know when to start doing that? Does this happen when I turn the lights to 12/12?

Thanks guys...I'm sure these questions have been asked before, but I have searched for these questions and have not found them.

Any help would be awesome!!!

Thanks guys. Happy smoking! :joint:

You can plant them in bigger pots as soon as they looks hearty enough. I'd wait a couple weeks. Be careful not to mess up the roots and jerk them around to much.

You control when to put them into flowering. Whenever you turn the lights to 12/12. Some people wait just a few weeks after the seeds sprout, and some give them a few months.

How big is your grow space, and what kind of lights are you using?

when transplanting them i have found it best to soak them in super thrive or some type of root stimulant. Make sure to water pretty heavily before you transplant them.

I'm using CFLs due to lack of money. I'm not sure exactly what they are; my boyfriend bought them. But they are in the blue spectrum which i think is supposed to be for the veg state, unless I'm wrong?? They are in a shop light type of thing. I also have two other cfls in regular desk lamps.
My grow space is in the corner of my basement room; its like a 4 X 4 corner... Thanks for your help.

yes you do want blue spectrum CFLs for veg....

As far as when to flower.. Keep in mind once you put them into flower they will double triple (and in my case almost quadrouple) in size by harvest. I wouldn't veg past 12"....

Okay, so, I should basically start to flower them when they are at about a foot tall? So, then I change the light to 12/12 right? Do I need to change the temp or humidity at this point or not?

temps stay about the same as veg... but actually yours are bordering a lil high right now... want to stay more in the mid 70s or so

Yeah flower a foot or maybe a lil less... I flowered at a foot and I ended up with some height issues, next time I may do 8"-10"... but thats just because of my headroom I had...

Its not uncommon to veg to a foot and half or more

Well, thank you leggo...I guess I will start to flower at about 10 inches because I have some height issues because we have low ass fucking ceilings! I guess I'll turn the temp down just a bit....

yeah just think about what space you actual hood/lamp takes up, the space you need from your lamp to the top of your plants... Ive attached some easy charts to tell how far to keep your bulbs away depending on wattage
