New grower, closet grow

hey all,

So in June I started my first grow with some (2) clones from a friend.

I setup in a tiny space above the garage about 4ft by 3ft.

I started with just 1x75w flourecent grow light from Walmart. After 2 weeks I bought another, and then I bought 2 more and a 150w CFL to bump it up to 450w.

I just cloned them today so I have 4. temps have been ranging from 70-85. I dont have any good way to cool it down other than a room AC unit.

They've been on the small size and slow to branch, I assume thats been due to the limited light. But with 450w now I think it will speed up. both orignals were about 20in when I cloned btw.

I was just wondering is there an easy way to promote branching in a small operation, also any tips? I'll post some pictures soon!

im no expert on lights but im pretty sure the lumen output per watt between cfl and hps (etc.) is drastically different.
make sure you find the real wattage on the lights, not the equivelant watts. 450W sounds very hi for just 4 CFL's...

so should i go off the real wattage # or the equivalant? Its 4 FL lights and 1 CFL with 450w equiv. total....

you go off the wattage not the output, so a 43 watt CFL puts out approx 150 light watts, you would want round 100 watts per plant so 2 43 watt cfls at minimum

yes nobody uses the equivalence rating here, if that were true Id have 1200W of CFL for veg
