New Grower Needing Advice

So i came accross this forum while researching some stuff about growing.... heres the deal, me and a freind of mine came accross some seeds in a really good strain of californian kush. Then had a freind give me some reggie seeds and some mid grade seeds. i decided since we only have 2 seeds of high grade that i should go ahead and make some other plants, maybe not to smoke but to sell. the high grades are for me but anyway i am just going to post everything here. from my growbox, to questions, to weekly updates on how im doing. if i have any questions i would appreciate help on what to do and how to do it for a decent price. thank you, ill be updating with several pictures here within the hour.

okay so i figured i should show off my ghetto grow box first. I am young and still living at home, yes like i said i am a newbie and this is my first time growing so im doing this on a budget so i need the cheapest way to do this possible and for me this was it. i plan to upgrade as the plants get bigger. so i know this is ghetto but its all i got for now. and it seems to be working or atleast it has for the past several weeks. some of my plants are at 5 weeks.


the first picture is of all the plants in the grow box, the second picture is of the lid of the container with the fan in it. it is an exaust fan and it is sucking air out of the container, and there are holes in the lid to that can bee seen in the last picture that suck new fresh air in. the plants are ontop of a shoebox which you can see in the first picture so as they get bigger i can lower them. i plan on getting all of them about 18" tall then moving them to a new place out of the house where i wont have to worry about my parents or anyone finding it and the smell would give it away in my closet. also what are suggestions for keeping smell out? ive hear about chargoal filters but they are quite pricy, anything cheap that does the job?

you need the light to be lower and more of them

also metal pots are not advisable

good decision on using the reg seeds first to learn on. save those good seeds for when you know what your doing

also, aluminum foil is shit for reflection. painting it white would be better

decent set up for a first timer though. you are making a few mistakes, but first grows are full of mistakes

okay next up is the plants themselves, the first picture is the californian bud, it is 5 1/2 weeks old. i think maybe a little less, maybe a little more. but close to that. anyway, the second picture is of the stems, the leaves, i believe theyre called the first nodes? the clover leaves? are turning brown and falling off all the plants at 3-4 weeks,,, is this normal???? idk whats going on here so yeah. let me know... the third picture is of "clipping" the leaves, i did this on the smaller cali plant and on some of the hydros, yes i know they arent hydro really cause they arent grown hydroponically or whatever. but the seeds came from some hydro so thats what im calling it for now, thats the mid i got though. anyway i heard that this will make wider growth instead of taller and for the space i will be moving them to that is perfect, i also heard that it will help produce more bud... is this true?

and finally i have the last picture, it is of the plants in thier "pots" which are pop cans,,, i know that isnt a good idea but they will soon more to new pots made of gallons of milk ahha like i said i am on a tight budget but next year i plan to get a 20'x20' tent to put in the appartment that me and a freind are getting this summer, so that we can grow year round. i gotta grow and sell this first so that i can get the money to... also i dont have feminized seeds, just normal ones, i was wondering, on a normal seed if planted outside are the females able to be pollinated by pollen from any plant or just by male weed plants... that may be a really stupid question but idk. i just have tons of questions i need answered. i have 21 plants and i want them all to be good budding females. anything i can do to keep them working well. thank you any advice is welcomed greatly. thank you everyone.

thanks man that actually really helps, like i said in the last post i will be all over getting those plants out of them asap, just waiting to get the appartment where i can move them to, as soon as i get that they will be in gallon milk jugs all cleaned up and looking good, im getting a large flourecent light and then when they get bigger i will be ordering several more, i dont want to go with cfls or hps so im going with flourescent they seem to have the best ratings for both vegatative and flowering stages. so im going with that, trying to keep price down to maximize profit to buy a nice growroom after i sell this off. thanks for all the suggestions man it really helps.

read through the info in the links in my signature below and you'll be a long way to knowing what you need to grow indoors.

do some reading and start when you have a good setup ready. unless you dont want to yield anything.

well im going to do this one abd just get as much yeild as i can, then with the money i get from that i plan to buy a nice grow room and some feminized white widow seeds... i know i may only get an oz or two from each plant with this set up but its the best i can do on the budget im at....

If i read this right, in a nutshell
21 plants
floro lights
tight budget
first grow
parents house
wanting 1-2oz/plant
use profits from this grow to fund a progrow setup

I'm a bit high, a lot drunk.

Make sure you are getting the right lights for vegetative growth (6500K) and for flowering (2700K). If i recall you said you were clipping your plants? Dont. You want as many leafs on your plant as possible. The more leaves you have, the healthier your plant, the more bud. If you are looking into Topping, LST, or FIM then that's a different story. I would reccomend getting some cheap nutrients as well. Good luck!

what do you mean by "break the news" you got it all right, but like i said its only in my house for another month... and by then some all the males will be gone and i wont have to worry about having that many plants anymore. and i will be moving them to an apartment where i will have several rooms to grow in. and once these mature and harvest im going to gradually get a better set up and better seeds with the profit from the previous ones. i plan on doing this for atleast the next 5 years.

What news? Your grow is a joke!!!!! You can't even wait 4 fucking weeks to plant some seeds, you have to plant them RIGHT NOW in your mom's house, with shitty lights, little ventilation, and uber crowded conditions. Your plants are less than 10 days old, and already like 7 inches tall...not a good thing. You have too many plants and not enough light.

I'm guessing you're not medicinal. So not only that, when you move, you are risking getting busted with 12 plants that IF they survive to 12/12 they will be 6 feet long, bent over, with tiny popcorn nuggets for colas. Why don't you come back when you're actually mature enough to fund a real grow

(I'd have been a lot nicer if you had like 3 seedlings vegging inside that container...not 12)

PS Are you fucking serious? Are you really growing in soda cans???? Is this a joke topic? Are you trolling? Or are you seriously at the bottom of the human IQ totom pole? What did you plan on cutting up and sticking the plants in when they need to be transplanted into 1 gallon pots within the next week? Milk Cartons?

Here's some advice: Stop growing weed. Let me guess, when you move out, you're going continue your grow in a college dorm? Did you actually do any "research" or did you just type marijuana into google and came up with RIU as your first website you clicked on?

Because I had to stand corrected on how big of an idiot you are, here are some quotes from your own mouth for you to reflect on. Maybe you should think realisticly about your situation instead of living in pipe dreams, hmm?

okay honestly its up to me if i want to do this, yes i know i dont have enough light i just bought some new flouros and im dividing the plants. im goign to have 10 in each container. yes im using milk jugs its worked for others it will work for me. please, im not here to try and make the best yeild ever i just want to make some. its going to be a first time thing like i said sooo many times, using money from this to fund future growth then i will have the money to make a big grow with lots of yeild. it really doesnt matter to me that you say im an idiot i like what im doing and whether it works or not is my business im just asking for some advice on how to keep myself doing decent, getting along.

so i made a new box that has a much larger flouro in it which should help me out. once some of them strat showing thier sex im going to move half the females to this box. and only 3 or so will stay in the other one.

Buddy, buy a book on growing. Even if it isn't on pot. If you don't have the money, go to the library. Get a job in a greenhouse, nursery, gardening, anything to do with plants. Grow some tomatoes this summer. Save some money from your job to buy/build your grow space.

Learn all you can about plants, growing, and cannabis.

Do this and you will have the answers you seek, and fat buds.

Live long, and yield well.

I've seen something like this before at my buddys house. He had that same type of rubbermade container too, just kept lid, slightly off to keep it ventilated.....he got them to bud and yielded like 10 graMS A Plant, and this took like 10 weeks. The hardest thing is getting them to bud, if you get those girls flowering then perhaps you'll get something. the thing is that more lights = more heat . Personally I would just work on one or two females right now with that kind of setup, the best looking ones, put then in big pots and devote your resources to them, find a secluded place outside and plant those other plants somewhere where they might grow and be big.....maybe even bigger than the ones your trying to grow....just a thought
