New grower with afew ?s

I an a new grower and was wondering how long the process takes from seed to cut in general? I had someone give me a mother vanilla kush and I did some clones from her they are about 4 weeks old and are about 8 inches tall or so.....Don't know much I bought a 1000 watt light with a adjustable ballast 500 750 1000 and I have them under the 500 24 hrs not sure when to switch over to 12-12. Any and all advice is appreciated I have my license and I want to do this right ...Thanks

hard to give ya all the advice you need, I recommend to read some of the stickies that have most of the info you need. guys on here will willingly help if you at least put some leg work in. check out the newbie section lots of good stuff there.

Thanks slow and steady I had a caregiver who is now MIA was gonna teach me everything....So just reading a lot and watching vids thanks....even this site is new too me so it all takes getting used too

yeah still looking for stuff myself. what sucks is search is down they say their working on it. general advice is hard to give cause every grower is diff and every setup is too. and be sides some times the old brain ain't working to well either lol. but glad your here and hope the best for ya. oh and don't feed the trolls there some fairly large ones here that are asshats. Hey Ditch , welcome to RIU first and foremost .. You will find that understanding variables will help you become a better grower with each round . Of course there are general guidelines to follow but there are so many odd variables to contend with that one must understand that no two grows are the same .

You can plan on flowering plants doubling in size at the minimal once into flowering as this is known as the stretch . Some strains though do not stretch as much , such as Indica and Kush in general along with some of the Hybrids created from them . The Sativas and there children on the other hand can triple up and grow even more when flowering . Growing a Kush like you are it will be beneficial to raise them bushy as they might not stretch much pheno depending . Again another example of the variables .

Firstly from seed takes more than double the time it does from clone. Hard to tell you exactly how long because growing in soil for example is about half the speed of hydro. Then growing under CFL only is also about half the speed of growing under HID lighting. If you are new and growing in soil expect 6 months. I say that because flowering is 8 to 12 weeks, that's 3 months more or less and you will probably need to grow from seed and veg for at least 3 months. It could be longer..... From clones I would say 10 weeks to flower and max 10 weeks to veg in soil so maybe 3 to 5 months depening on your setup. You could do it half that time, it just depends how big you want your plants before you flower.

sorry for spamming your thread but just noticed something. I know allot of people say 24 hour lights under veg and I agree mostly, but personally I prefer to give at least 6 hours of darkness for small clones, the roots grow more when it is dark. When the lights are on the top grows and lights out the roots grow. That is just my opinion it is also more natural.
