New growth standing completely up

I’m aware praying hands can be a good sign . But not to the degree of it standing completely up . I’ve been dealing with what I believe is light stress or heat stress . It’s hard to tell exactly . They both show identical symptoms. I’ve been dimming the lights down from 40% to now 20% this has been the last two to three days . Still getting the standing new growth . However leaves don’t seem to look as stressed . But still standing new growth . Can’t imagine 20% being too much even 25% . All atleast a month old . Driving me bonkers. Need some diag help . Thanks in advance !

grow specs
Temp 84f
Humidity 59%

4 marshydro ts1000 daisy chained @39” from canopy 600w true
Superglue , sour orange kush , black rose ( bag seed )
Fox farm ocean soil
Fox farm trio nutrients

Nutes used at half strength .

Not sure if this is related to your issue or not but it’s an interesting tidbit. Typically leaves point up because the underside of the leaf is growing faster than the top. It’s called a hyponastic response and is caused by the production of ethylene in the plant. One of the potential causes of that ethylene production is standing water in the root zone. It’s different than the usual “praying plants are happy” thing. Might be something to consider.

Funny you say this . The one with the most stress , super glue , had roots piled up in the drain pan . I didn’t empty it and water pooled up every watering . Kept forgetting to drain the pans lol I have since chopped it . The look of stress has reversed . But still shows a bit . The others the growth is more twisted that standing straight up . It’s mainly super glue doing it . Others look sun beaten .

Also in addition to improving drainage, you could improve air circulation and exchange since this issue can be caused by ethylene gas build up.

I’ve never seen this before! Interesting! Watching this thread

hmm what about air exchange? ethylene could build up in unventilated areas. things to try
I have one fan pumping fresh air in and the tent flaps open to push air out . The 4 fans attached to poles . I have positive tent pressure right now . I do have ventilation system but I’m not currently using it because it just sucks all my heat and humidity out . When I flip to flower in two weeks I’ll be running it .

Following. I’m having very similar issues. Great environment. But first time growing strain, not sure what it is. Looking forward to the troubleshooting.

Maybe I’m crazy, but I don’t see anything wrong with those plants or growth tips. I’ve had fresh new growth like that many times. In my experience the tips are just growing out quickly and will spread out and expand as the grow. It also looks like yours are starting to begin the transition to flower which will cause the growth tips to begin growing a little different.

Tips have slight tacoing . Raised edges , and none of my other plants were really standing straight up like this. They had the praying hands but not standing completely straight up . Also , I believe they’re photo period plants , ( it’s bag seed ) and from what I’ve read bag seed tends to be photo period . ... by any means I’m not saying you are wrong , merely speaking on what I’ve accumulated up to my 2nd grow .

Not sure what made you think I thought they were autos. I never doubted they were photo period since you didn’t mention them being autos.

What you showed in those pictures doesn’t look like any significant “tacoing”. The other plant are likely growing/reacting differently because they are different plants. You’ve got multiple varietals growing so it’s very likely they will all look and grow differently. You can grow out a single pack of seeds from a breeder and you will still get multiple different plants that exhibit different growth tendencies.

Interesting! I have a plant that had looked like it was praying but instead of up.. leaves were praying in all directions. Even through a lockout issue they still did it. Had bad gnat issues and did attribute it to overwatering but never thought about the reason the leaves did what they did.

This plant smaller than the others? Less roots/leaf mass? Closer to light than the rest? Maybe just a light sensitive pheno? I’m guessing this only happens @ end of day, a few hours before the lights turn off? This happened to me but to all my plants . I veg w/ a cmh on the close to canopy side w/ no co2. I chalk it up to plant reaching its DLI and closing/making self thinner to escape the photons they’re no longer able to process, because they’ve reached DLI already. Just my opinion.

I wasn’t aware that photo plants can transition into flower on their own . I don’t know about the breeder . They were gifted . I’m still on 18/6 . I wait another 2-3 weeks for others to catch up before I switch . I’m ripped man . Could be Misunderstanding .

It’s actually my biggest . I did have an issue with roots coming out the bottom . I kept forgetting to drain the drain pan and water pooled up and roots ran that way . I’ve since cut them off a week or two ago and the stress factors have gone down . I could be bugging and there’s absolutely nothing wrong here . I’m new to this . Only my second grow .

Why would my other plants not be affected, but the one has been problems since day one
Some phenotypes have lower stress threshold than others. For example one phenotype is fine a 1.8 EC another pheno gets burnt to a crisp from overfeeding stress. Same with overwatering, some phenos do not like wet feet others dont mind. Its possible that pheno is more sensitive to ethelyne, to answer your remark on how that could be possible

I wouldnt be worried about it anyway, sure theyll be fine

They dont, only if stressed to the point of where the plant "thinks" its going to die and is a last ditch attempt at reproduction before it passes. That or the genetics are crap

I didn’t think they did lol Thanks for the input . I’m gonna send it and worry less about it . She’s very vigorous for the most part .
