I have been lurkin the board for abit and I wanna say thanks to everyone here, I have gained loads of intel and ideas from all of you.

I have some experience with Bonsai but that's the extent of my knowledge, this is my first grow.

I figured I would start from scratch literally and ordered some purple haze seeds and only heard after sprouting them that they are a difficult plant and flower for a long time. I will see what happens I guess. I sprouted 3 seeds in a cup of water, a few moons pass and they have a taproot do I buried the bastards in some soil. I didn't have the ability to acquire any fox farms soil, I went with an organic patio mix with no nutes mixed in, but I have to admit the bag the soil came in wasn't nearly as pretty as the FF shit, I am gonna buy a sack of FF and just frame it, It warms my heart

I germed the beans on 12/6, and planted in soil a week or so later. they popped up the next day or so and were on their way. they were under (6) 23watt CFL's (or should I spell it CLF? I see so many people typing CLF it makes me laugh but that's all for fun.)

I have a PC fan inside 6" insulated ducting that dumps under the house, I have a welfare carbon filter chingus that is in there but not needed yet and I will probably rework that pile of crap later on. I have passive intake that draws air in from under the house also. I will probably rework all the ventilation stuff soon but maybe not.

they were under 18/6 lighting, then I went to 22/2 lighting after a few weeks because they grew quick but then really stopped doing shit for a bit, they also looked a bit jaundiced and yellow so at the 3rd week I gave them a dose of nutes (fox farm grow big) and added a 125watt CFL to the party. all the lights are about 4 inches from the plants.

shit got real after the nutes and additional light, they actually started to push out some growth, I wouldn't say its anything spectacular but after not doing dick for a while its nice to se something happen, maybe they were putting out roots and not making foliage during this phase? perhaps.

these girls are short chubby types (my favorite flavor), I dunno why but they just seem super short to me, and the leave nodes are tight as all fuck, maybe they will stretch? or should I consider raising the lights a bit? or is this how it goes? whatevs.

anyfuckinwho, there it is. I will try to post some updates as they come, and ANY advise is more than welcome, hell throw insults too, I dig. but if anyone has grown purple haze before I am open to any and all tips etc.

here they are, my monster stalks.yes they are in del taco cups FTW

Hey buddy, seeds were germed on dec 6. Planted about 34 days later. So they are about three weeks or so along.

I have no clue how the growth rate is or how big they should be but ive seen other "3 week" plants that are taller and bigger. But i know there is a grey area with people saying how old their plants are and i started these from seed not clones so maybe im confused

Not sure by what you mean by planted 34 days later because 34 days after Dec 6 would take us into January. They're not looking like 3 week old plants to me, in the photos they look like they are a couple of inches tall with no proper leaf development yet. At three weeks I would be expecting them to be at least 6" tall? I just looked up the Purple Haze - I found versions by Ace, White Label, and G13 Labs - do you know where yours come from? Please don't think I'm trying to be an arse here, it's the last thing I would try to do, honest, it's just that you've been talking about growth spurts but I can't see that from the pics. Perhaps a sideshot would give a better perspective. Do photo plants develop more slowly than autos? I don't know as it's been years since I grew a photo. I wouldn't be too worried anyway as they the more leaves they develop, the faster they grow and they can catch up very quickly once they really get motoring. I shall watch your grow with interest as I too am a CFL farmer running just over 200 Watts. I like to keep my lights between an inch and 2 inches away - but I often adjust them several times a day.

Hahah yeah it was supposed to say "3-4 days". My bad. I will have to look to see where the seeds came from i got em a while ago and dont recal exactly where they came from. Standby for that.

I got the seeds from the i love growing marijuana website. I thought i saw somewhere not to post links to seed sites but thats where i got em. I got 3 feminized purple haze seeds. All sprouted fine all three are growing. But they just seem slow to grow.

The pots seem very small compared to the lighter. I have a Northern Light Automatic from Speed Seeds that seems to be taking ages to develop, however, it has only been above the soil for a week. My HBD seemed to take ages at first and now it's a monster. I have put a less powerful LED bulb above my NLA now as I was wondering if it was getting more light than it could handle for such an infant plant. Perhaps our retards just have inferior genetics? Anway, I'm sticking with her til the end, even if she only gives me a gram, but in the meantime, I'm gonna order another more renowned seed. The other factor to consider as a possible cause is low humidity as seedlings are said to like it clammy.

well I decided to revamp my whole grow. thanks fort he info bud, we shall see where this goes I guess. I wanted to do a DWC from the start but thought to start with soil. Since these are still young I decided to switch over to DWC rite now anyways.

now here is the setup.
simple bin with lid, holds 6 gallons of water.
3 net pots with clay pellet media.

I just transplanted yesterday Jan 2. I didn't notice any real shock they had decent roots and look to be liking the setup. I also raised the lights a bit to see if i can stretch them a bit.

PH of solution is about 5.9

Good luck with the DWC, I've wanted to try it but feel like I should do a few good soil runs first. Subbing to see how she goes, keep posting as I am interested now!
