driver +
From a fellow electrician, driver + cob + heatsink = something that will grow plants. 2 of mine are mounted to a 1/4" x 6"x12" Aluminum plate with 2 passive heatsinks thermalconductive tape stuck to it scavanged from old PC's, 1 is superglued to P4 CPU Heatsink and bolted to above plate. I think the 4 Eye bolts I used to hang it cost more then everything else I used combined to mount mine. People are buying cheap copies from China and getting decent results. You are just buying better quality by buying Cree, that is where you can buy the junk.
I run 12v drivers, well technically not drivers, since they are adjustable voltage/current converters(ebay $15 from china), which I input 12v@3.6A DC and currently output 35v at 1.15 A. I am working on a watercooled fixture so I can turn the amperage up and see what happens to the Cree's at max power to see what they can do. I currently run 3 Top bin AB CRI83 in a 2x2 tent softly driven, 40k LUX at canopy with basic meter.
