new light

When i did my first setup i had a big problem with lighting i was using CF L's they didn't work out because i was using them in table lamps which i could not get close enough to my plants so they stretched badly.

So i have put them in a bigger put added soil so they are not so tall.

Iv brought a temp energy saving 2 foot fluorescent tube i have had a wooden frame built to hang the light from so i can higher or lower the fitting.

Currently the light is 5 inches from the plants. I am growing 5 plants some of them are yet to peep out of the soil.

Here are photos of my new setup

I am not sure how they will grow but on Tuesday i will be getting a growlux tube
and also a daylight tube too.

The lighting i am using at the mo is said to be that of a 120w light It is 1150 lumens

Would this tide me over until Tuesday when i can get a growlux?

yea, but u could lower the light even more if u wanted to
How much more?

I would say its 5 inches away from the plants.

I thought the guide line was 4 inches

But anyways i put them so there is a 1inch gap between the plants and the light. I put my hands just above the plant and the light doesn't burn my hands so i guess it wont burn the plants.

i use FL lights for veg..and keep them about 2 inches from the tops..its seems to keep them growing tall.but also accomplish a nice full bush

yeah i keep my fluoro tubes and cfls no more thn an inch away. it seems u have no choices so its gonna have to work till tuesday but i would definitely recommend more lighting. Im not a big fan of the 24' tubes, i would honestly try to rig up the cfls in addition with ur tubes. Cram as much light as u possibly can into your grow area:joint:

That fixture and the new bulbs for it aren't enough. Drop that light to where the bulbs are within 1' of the tops of those babies, prop up shorter ones to match.

Then figure out what else you're going to do and scrap the plans for using this fixture with new bulbs long term. You have a week to get something else.

1150 lumens isn't enough for even one of those plants to veg.

i will have to agree with these guys..i do use the long FL..alot of people dont like them cause the lumens are spread out throughout the light..but if thats all you had then go for it..thats why i use them..i had 4 40watt ballasts laying around..

Once all the plants have sprouted i would get them in separate pots fast. you dont want the roots to tangle, because then it will be a catastrophe to severe the connections.

They will be separated i grew these too soon without having the know how and stuff to set it up or the money.

Lighting has and always will be a issue. I have a 32 daylight CFL coming Monday. The issue is i have no way of getting the CFL,s Close to my plant. I can add 1 too the ceiling and two in table lamps.

I am also limited to how much juice i can run on that extension lead. I think it either has a 5amp fuse or a 15.

The light is 1" from the plants now.

Max amount of light i can run is 35W my question is what can i get that is within 35W that has enough Lumens to grow my plants?.

Daylight lights i believe should be enough correct me if i am wrong.

Anyone of these?

Plus is have one of these

It was so much cheaper and easier when i lived in a house with a skylight in the roof where the sun came in almost every day and there was enough light to grow my plants.
They grew tall and healthy and there was no lights to setup.

I guess what i am trying to say is that i am in over my head.

dont worry m8 you'll pull it off. That extention cord should be fine to run a few cfls off. If u cant buy any other supplies just use the 24' over the tops of the plants and put a lamp on each side with a cfl for side lighting. The daylight are good for veg. youl need some 2700k bulbs for flowering though. You can always add more as u go too.

I will figure something out.
The reason i like that tube fitting is because of the lumes get spread out. you get x amount per square meter if only there was a tube that was 2 feet and had 3000 - 6000 lumes.

Tomorrow i will weigh out my options.

Much more light... AND DUDE, GET THOSE 2 plant in separate pots! VERY IMPORTANT!
Will do when possible.

I know i need light i know but i have limits. I would love to hang a 600w HID but thats not going to happen. Unless i can get a new location to grow and the electric board dont get suspicious or the high amount that 600w would use.

Those t-12 do great. Back in the day that was the best out there.

what is a t12?

T12 is the type of light your using. I wouldnt worry about the electric spike. the computer your typing on probably uses a 400w power supply. Adding 400 wats would not be enough to raise suspicion at all. Check out my grow in my sig. U use 200 something watts of cfls and im growing more than 14 small plants.
