Mineral salts have an antagonistic relationship to one another when it comes to being utilized by the plant. Overdose one mineral and you'll usually lock out multiple competing elements. Now if you couldn't overfeed a plant or the plant somehow self-regulated the uptake of all minerals at all levels, then this antagonistic relationship wouldn't exist. The key is balance and to avoid a toxic buildup in the medium. This situation of nutrient antagonism will show up a lot faster when using mineral-derived formulas than organics.

When I checked your journal you mentioned throwing the last batch in the trash. Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but I am a skeptic when it comes to high feeding levels. This is because I followed some of that bad advice and it cost me a couple rounds of good harvests. Bugs, hermies, root rot, etc are all more of a problem on an overfed plant.
I believe that some nutes will burn far faster than others. take ammonium nitrate, it's taken up fast and will burn girls in a hurry. Even urea nitrogen will burn plants, ever noticed the burn marks left on the lawn from dog piss? On the other hand, I bet you could have 1500 ppm of calcium carbonate, or magnesium carbonate in your nutes and not have issues. So I think the real answer to all this talk about how much to feed is "it varies". It will depend on type of nutes, medium or lack of medium, rate of transpiration, strain of plant, etc. If one were to make a broad spectrum suggestion on an EC to run I would suggest keeping it around 1.0 EC or a little less. This number works for most scenarios, where a 2.0 EC will burn the shit out of plants in many scenarios. The dudes over at skunk school completely misinterpreted the results of the suberin experiment, and have been spreading bogus advice.
