New questions, your opinion about this new plant and some problems

Hello,

This is a new update for my plant and here are the details :

This is a 3 weeks plant.

My soil details :

organic matter 55 - 60 %
moisture 65 - 75 %
mineral salt 0.7 - 0.8 %
mineral nitrogen 50 - 150mg / kg
soluble potassium 100 - 150mg / kg

I do not use perlite.

I water it 1 time / 2 days ( when the soil is dry )

I use rain water only .

I use special growing soil.

I don't use any fertilization products.

I have 3 Light bulbs ( ECONOMIC ). Aprox. 4800 lm ( lumens )

Light program : 16 Hours light ON / 8 Hours light OFF

When I don't use the air fan the box temperature gets to 32 °C.
When I use the air fan the temperature stays at 27 °C - 28 °C.

Problem 1 : 2 days ago I found out that some of this leafs are turning yellow :





Problem 2 : This are the distance between the light bulbs and plant : ( I still think that is too hot for the plant at this distances , your opinions will matter )



Problem 3 : I still think that the plant is growing slow ?! ( 29.09.2013 Planted & 9.10.2013 Spread out & 12.10.2013 First leafs )

Now this is after 3 weeks and a half :



Please give me some suggestions ... Thank you !

For 3 weeks yeah your plant is small. I see no perlite at all in your soil so Im gonna throw an uneducated guess that your soil isn't very good. You're growing with CFL, they aren't going to grow as fast as an outdoor or with HID. Yellowing is a sign of a deficiency OR an excess of nutes. If your soil says it has fertilizer in it, then its probably a little too potent for it right now which should work itself out. If the soil has no nutrients in it then you need to start a feeding schedule.

The growing slow problem could be caused because in the first week I used just a 23 Watt and after a week I added another 45 Watt and today I added another 45 Watt light bulb ?

And to solve this yellow leafs problem I need to buy some perlite and mix it with my soil ? ( I will buy it tomorrow )

perlite does not contain any nutrients.

That leaf is not really yellow or "chlorotic". It is a bit pale but nothing that would make me start chasing phantom deficiencies. I wouldnt worry about it.

I would rearrange those lights. One of those bulbs closer tot he plant with a cheap bayco reflector would be better than all three hung vertically like that.

1. clear containers are no good . the roots are not supposed to get any light
2. you can't add perlite to your soil , until you transplant
3. you need to move them lights closer ( at least the one overhead )
4. the main stalk seems a bit thin , make sure to put some sort of fan in there that blows on the plant. it'll make it much stronger.
5. if your soil has no nutes in it , then your plant is getting hungry and it's time to start feeding her
6. I can't tell if that reflective material is mylar or aluminum foil ..if it's the foil and get rid of it and use mylar instead.

overwatered.... id put money on it, just try to water less freqent. every two days is too often for such small seedling under cfls. Wet soil = no oxygen to roots= slow growth.
with a plant that size you cold let it dry out for like five days to a week then water every 4-5 days. wet the soil until small run off. then let it dry out. other than that its looking good. a plant this sixe does not need feeding imo.

I've added some perlite :



1. I will mix it some more after I transplant in a few weeks .
2. The air fan is running 24 / 7 right now.
3. I did water it right now and I will try to water it lets say in 3 days as you guys suggested.
4. As you can see the leaf is getting more yellow and I am not happy about it .
6. Yes, I use aluminum foil.

Suggestions after this new photo update ?

pics don't ever really do troubleshooting any favors, but here is my opinion (disregard what you don't like)

1. you didn't have enough watts, you do now but only for this single plant and you need to get as many lumens pointing at it as possible (ie lay the bulbs the other direction, use something so that the sides of the bulbs are facing the plants
2. take some white paper and cut it out and place it under the leaves and around the stock you need to bounce some light from the bottom up with so little of it to play with
3. cover the clear plastic via paper and tape or transplant to a non opaque plant pot. can you see any roots thorough the pot, if so, they are being punished as they are getting light
4. don't pester about with this , do what you need then leave it alone - impatience and thinking you will affect the plant immediately are loser strategies when it comes to growing
5. stop foliar feeding it, that isn't helping at all when using tin foil as your reflector.
6. next time you give it a full water pick it up and either weigh it, or memorize how the weight feels, every second day pick it up if it way lighter time to water, if it isn't leave it alone
7. if you continue to keep your 45w lights only 3 inches from the plant it will stunt its growth, yes lots of people on here talk about putting cfl's 2 - 3 inches away from the plant, they are confused or wrong , that is only for 23-26w CFL's here is a link to the distance I keep my lights https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/705936-some-hopefully-helpful-cfl-advice.html

THis isn't rocket science and you will be successful, provided you realize early that f*cking with the plant will only cause you heartbreak (I defoliate, lollitop and really beat my girls up, but I sure didn't bother with any of that until I had some confidence and what I like to call "Proof of Resilience". that is the time you can look at your plant and realize no matter what you do to it it will finish (you aren't there yet)

**The last piece of advice I have to spam you with is this: everyone on here grows a different way, like it or not, as such the advice is only going to be pertinent really to their grow style unless it is pure science, some will tell you things to aid in your purchasing of their products, some will tell you garbage they read somewhere but really don't know anything practical about, and some advice is simply gold in an otherwise pile of B.S. - what makes all of these types of advice as important as the last is you- if I get advice from someone who hasn't grown the strain, hasn't grown the way I do with CFL's etc, and have really no reason to comment except to self aggrandize themselves I move on to the next post - learn this dude as you will run so many circles for nothing otherwise.

Yeah stop watering it! Unless you want it to die. Cannabis does wet dry cycles. Ths small plant has very little need for water and the frequency is far too often. Let it dry out between waterings. Give it at least 5 days now to recover possibly even a week. Check out Uncle bens posts on moisture stress its a source of good information

Appreciate your opinion and I can say that your reply is what I was thinking about that light bulbs too, they are too big and too close so I've decided to move that 2 - 45 watt bulbs at 10 cm distance and keep the 23 watt bulb the same. I think this caused my yellow leaf problem too. Thank you for this information and I will follow your advices !

My two cents...lights are too far away and you need to turn them sideways, put a fan on, soil without perlite doesn't drain well and your probably overwatering...let it dry out between watering. When you feed, keep it light...Good luck! :)

if the yellowing of that leaf was caused by the lights being too close , shouldnt it have "burned" the top of the plant instead thats "closer" to the bulb? the closer you put your CFL lights the better , as long as you keep it cooled. moving them farther away will make your plant stretch ( which is fine if thats what you want ) .
youve gotta get rid of that foil and like others have said here ...don't go by specific number of days that you have to water. rather go as the plant needs.

it looks like nute burn to me. The soil is too hot and the drainage is poor. I would transplant it into a medium which can drain water more much easier. That way if this happens again you can flush and start over. Im a newb too but Ive been troubleshooting with my problems and I had the same problem as you. Those leaves btw most likely will not come back to normal. Mine did that 2 weeks into veg and now they are 6 weeks in and the leaves are still yellow.
