New chip, doesn't seem like it's available yet. The blurb talks about color rendering and higher efficacy, up to 235lum/w, new reflector in the case and more efficient phosphor.

But no data sheet or release date, only "in production". Let's see what happens, maybe a price drop on standard lm301b?

The normal 301b does 220lm/w

Would this new 301b be similar to the 301h in terms of par or lumens output? The 301h is listed at 3.1umol/j (dunno what the lm/w would be I guess spectrum dependent)

Can't wait to suddenly see this evo designation added to every Amazon light description. Lol.
Couldn't find the evo one yet.

This is the first step of the H becoming its own product.
Prior top this EVO...the H and B were the EXACT same. No flux binning difference at all. Only color binning which doesn't really matter in Horticulture and why they let it happen to save cost for the horti guys only caring about ppf. The B's could be gotten in 3step, or 5step. The H was only available in 5step. That was the only difference. Ask Samsung or the spec sheets.

The evo is the final evolution to its own product separate completely from the B.

There are differences in SPD(Just wait..95% will love the change.) and slightly higher output with the new EVO.

I wouldn't expect it to change the pricing of the older H/B's...the evo will be like the current 301h-one and get a premium.
Good luck on availability for quite a while. The current B/H are still in allocation and these EVOs will be worse to obtain. Teir1 samsung customers at best will get them.

"...To facilitate adoption into existing markets, the package will also be available in two lighting modules — the Q-series EVO optimized for indoor lighting at offices and schools, and the H inFlux EVO for high–ceiling applications including factories and warehouses."

im thinking this means that the strips to look out for would be new Q Series and H inFlux? ill try to dig on their site later and see if I can find anything. I don't care about the Q so much but it would be sweet if the current H inFlux strips dropped in price as a result of a newer model.

So it's been a few months has anyone seen anything re these 301 Evo strips?

301B EVO and 301H EVO are not the same anymore. The actual LED die is entirely different. Same package, but different die. The different die is where the different blue peaks come from. ~435nm(H-EVO) vs ~450nm(B-EVO)

What makes the H-EVO so impressive is the higher efficacy it has is made while using a lower nm blue peak. That lower nm blue means less potential photons/w at the same efficiency. Basically a photon handicap working against the H-EVO and it still raised the bar.

right i hadnt realised that they are 2 new chips the "b" evo and the "h" evo, i knew the new chip had the 435 pump thats why i couldnt understand why the 435 pump was missing in the spd's i posted...
so still no data sheet for the "h" evo...

I have a question. Does anyone know where a guy could just buy the chips? I want to build my own lights. I have access to custom PCB's and drivers. I've built more than my fair share of COB lights but I want to get into the area of even coverage vertical lights now. I can't, however, find a place where I can source the LM301B's in bulk though. Any help would be appreciated.
