new space, time to change grow style?

Hey riu, I moved into a new house and have more space than i'm used to. I'm used to doing scrog with 600w in a 3x3 space. Now I have 2 rooms, each 72"x80". I don't think I need to scrog anymore that space isn't much of an issue. I've always grown in soil, but am open to anything. Budget isn't an issue, as I have harvest comming up.
So what do you think, just pot em, and let em go, or continue with the scrog method? I kinda like the bucket systems, but don't want to deal with large amounts of water.

Good idea, I should of mentioned I prefer to run perpetually, so I would like one room for moms/cloning/veg. Also I already have fans, hoods, 2-1000's, a 600 and a 400 plus t5's, AC, dehumidifier, co2, controller. I've been running a sealed 5x5 tent for the time being.

I like the ebb and flow. Let's me use as much of the hight I can and don't need to reach in to water. If you look at the link in my sig it will give you a idea how I always have 15 plants in flower. I woul use that 40" area as a cloning room. Another as mom and veg. Then the other as a flower. I know my rooms arnt the same style but just to give you a idea of how I broke it down. Also I'm a big believer in less plants+more time=bigger yield. Just as long as you fill the flower room to it's fullest buy week 6 you will have a few lb on your hands.

you could still run both in one room. which i suggest if that is all you have done. try shit out and see if you like it better.

so far on the scales I have run, just LST and some topping is what I like best, no screen. i have tried a screen before, but with plants my size, and only running 2x600w it wasnt ideal

best of luck. wish I could start over space wise.. :-P

This is what I've got for you so far. I'll work on it some more and figure out the ducting as well. Tried to work within the equipment list you gave me.

Does the room have floor drains? If so I would advise trying out coco, if not stick with the soil since you know it. I also would suggest that maybe you try out 4 400W CMH lights instead of 2 1000W lights. Will be more coverage area, and of a better spectrum. Also the CMH light can be used in the veg room too. The only lame part about the philips CMH is that it only goes up to 400W

Here is a link that may convince you to give it a try, at least in your veg area. http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=72215

The only thing you may need to adjust to is that your plants will stretch MUCH less using this light. I had a friend who tried it out and went back to HPS because his plants were not big enough... He didn't consider that the lack of stretch was a good thing, and it still provided the same amount of bud sites, just more compact without the stretch! This run he is using the CMH only and he was amazed at close his inter nodal spacing was.

you may want to take a look at my grow in a 6x6 flower and 8x5 veg room. it all looks good and i see you say sealed room setup but you havent put any venting atleast between the rooms... where does the ac go? is it going to cool 3k watts? are you venting hoods? just throwing ideas out there i help people setup all the time and like to see new ideas about how to do things... as for your style.. keep it the same till you get the room perfect then if your looking for easy hydro setup check out ebb flow buckets...

The AC vents out the window, and all hoods are air cooled. I don't have floor drains. I've been looking at cmh, but still not convinced that their better then a 1000w hps, or dual arc.
How much maintenance is a ebb n grow setup. How often do you clean buckets and res? I'm not about to do that crap every week! But I like the simplicity of it.
Phillip, in the drawing you show groups of nine plants, are you assuming a scrog setup, or just potting them? And would it require about a 4x4 space for 9? My current 6PC scrog tray is 24x36, so I would need new trays?

Ebb and Grow systems are a lot of maintenance and they have a ton of things that you need to tweak to the systems to avoid serious problems. There are some great threads in the hydro section about them though.

From the PM you sent me it sounded like you DIDN'T want to do scrog. That's why I set the room up like that. You have 8 foot ceilings with 1000w lights so you have limitations on the size of plants you can grow. I made the plants 4' tall and 1.5' squared. That being said you can fit 9 in a square under a 1000w light and assuming your plants that you just bring into flower on your perpetual system will be much smaller and won't need as much light. I was going based on what you said bro. If you want me to change it then give me the information of what you are going to be doing.

No your right, it just didn't give dimensions for plant size or area. So you were thinking just 7 gal. pots with minimal training to keep at 4' total height. At 1.5 per plant that's 4.5' sq. And with 2 sets in bloom, the room would need to be 9' min. wide, that only leaves 3' for veg(less actually with dividing wall.) Is that right?

The plants that are in early flower won't be near as big as the ones that are blooming. I am assuming you are talking about a standard 1 month cycle? You are going to harvest 9 plants every month.

So what size is the flower room? I know they will be smaller, but the pot size won't change. They take up a min of 12"x12".
Yes I currently run a one month schedule approx., some go 9 Weeks in bloom which kinda messes things up. Trying to run only 8 week strains, with one month veg.

Here is an updated plan with ducting. Room sizes are on the plan and walls are 4" thick. The plants that are on the plan are not the pot size, they are the estimated plant width. The pots will be smaller then the plants width.
