New squirrel cage fan

Just picked up on a 6 inch squirrel cage fan and holly shit that thing is loud, heard they were loud but damn it sounds like an airplane, i can hear it through my entire house.

Any ideas on how to make it less noisy, how to build a sound box?

Using a custom cabinet 5 feet tall, 21 inch deep, 33 in wide so space is kind of an issue.

Need some suggestions on how to make it quieter.

buy a different fan with a lower sone rating...

Well i could do that but im kind of tight on money, ive all together spent around 600$ and cant afford anymore at this point

build a box out of plywood with sound isulating foam on the inside. cut out a hole for the intake and exhaust and VOILA! in theory it should work anyways, may get a little hot in there though. What does voila mean anyways? italian? cant be english.. Good luck mangg!!

foam padding whereever it touches walls or ceiling.
