New thoughts on 12/12 from seed

i'm thinking about doing a 30 plant grow under a 600 watt hybrid bulb. The seeds i have are some sativa. the natural light cycles are very important so instead of 12/12 i was thinking about 13/11 for 2-3 weeks to imitate late summer near the equator then lowering it to 12/12 for 5 weeks of flower then 11/13 for the remaining time it takes to finish flower. anyone ever done this? I think 12/12 from seed could produce a herm so im trying to avoid this but get a quick harvest. any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am looking into 13/11 because I am curious too. I will let you know what I come up with.

I doubt it makes a big enough difference to stop a hermin. I would just grow them and pick a mother, don't be lazy. I'm sure you could trade a few seeds for a few clones to get a quicker harvest, you will be happier in the long run especially if one of those seeds is a keeper and you didn't keep it as a mum.

I'm really not sure, but Trippy is concerned about 12/12 making a herm. I just don't see an extra hour of light making that big a of a difference.

I did a grow outdoor when it was under 14 hours of light a day and got down to 12/12 by harvest. I grew a vortex, a jack the ripper, a red dragon, a white russian, an og kush #18, and a unknown strain.

All did wonderfully, grew to about 3+ feet and produced quality bud over an oz a plant in 3gal buckets. Outdoor in Hawaii. All I can say is it worked great and had less stress than if I treid growing indoors in our heat.

equatorial light cycles dont get past 13 hours of light so the extra hour would be a lite veg period to give the plant hope

i think the plant will think, wow seasons almost over and i havent had time to produce shit so i might as well politate myself because theres no hope in " mating" with another plant
plants dont think lol, going hermie is about hormones and stress. ive had a couple in the past go hermie on me and in every case it was on a plant that stretched to much and ended up to close to the light and spent the grow under stress. they also say your most vigorous growing plants tend to be male/hermie

have you ever transplanted a 12/12 from seed? i wanna plant 75 in little pots and get around 30 females. the females will be transplanted into 3 gallon pots.

if you go 12/12 from seed you might not even need 3gal pots unless you have a sativa x that grows super fast.. 1 gal will normally be fine that method..

Thats for sure! I had 2 Querkle but the giant long armed bush of a plant was the male in my batch. I'll never trust a fast vegger again! lol, but without males how could we make strains custom to ourselves?

Actually my plants didn't start to flower until after about a month to a month and a half. the time before that it was in veg despite the 13/11 light hours. The flowering started not because of the light cycle, but because the plant itself was ready to flower. This meant that despite all seeds planted on the same day, different plants, even of the same strain, started flowering at different times. It seems the plant will veg naturally even under low light. Of course all the strains I did this with had a sativa/indica mix, so with a pure sativa or indica i can't say for certain. BUT my theory is that any marijuana plant will be in veg until its ready to flower.

outdoor is entirely different.you cant compare them.
i wouldnt suggest doing that 13/11 schedule for veg though.
hermies arent only brought out through stress. its pre determined in the dna of that clone or seed. the stress just brings it out.
i do somthing similar to what your suggesting, but with a 1k bulb and 25-30 under it. but on an 18/6 cycle, then 13/11, then 12/12 near the end of bud cycle.
