Seriously has anyone any experience with bad water that DI water cured? I cured my manganese problem with RO and then O3 and active carbon filtration but then I have a problem because my RO only gets like 90% of sodium which after my water softener is 50ppm (500ppm/10 = 50) which is too much sodium, so I am having salt problems in Rockwool now on my table, with less than 100% nutes (never had this problem with these nutes before in 20 years), at week 4 of 12/12.

So pissed off... I just ordered a DI unit from Hydro-logic to fit my EvolutionRO-1000, and a TDS meter to measure the after RO and after DI. ....I hope that does it!

Anyone here ever HAD to try DI, and did it fix your major malfunctions?

The way I figure it, is people who do hydro with bad water and have a water softener have two options, bypass the water softener and let the calcium carbonates screw up your RO filter real quick like, or use the softener and extend the life of your RO filters but have to use DI to get your water pure enough to add nutes if your hardness is 29+ grains like mine is.

I been known to figure wrong however, but like I mentioned, anyone got any real life experience? Also if you use a potassium instead of saline resine ion exchange, then that would be super interesting too. Too much K can lock out other nutes.

You can try using the water before the softener and mix it with ro (or di) water down to about 200ppm and use that effectively.

Saves on filters and nutes.

Just account for the calcium and other elements in the source water.

150 ppm is perfect for buffering. 250 is usually said to be getting high enough to add acid or filter.

This info is from any greenhouse production guide. Even jacks classic has a page on this.

I researched water alkalinity and container gardening for tons of info. Sorry. I don't have links saved in my phone.

Thanks, but I have too much lime to mix in solution. I tried and won't fuck around like that again. You invest so much and only have so much production time to get your friggin money back otherwise you might as well buy some BM high test!

Pure water is what I want and will try that because I have tried a lot of other stuff. 50/50 etc etc. All shit down the drain here. This area has a high rate of cancer. DI is what I want, hope it will work and I don't have to O3 it afterwards to precipitate soluables and then active carbon filter them. That is going to drive me nuts.
