new to cloning

Hi everyone, so I built my own ez cloning machine and I was wondering if I need a dome over my cuttings? How strong of a light do I need if I'm using cfl lights? I have some dip n grow liquid rooting concentrate has anyone used that before?

What are the details on the cloner? I'm not sure what ez cloner is?

I built a cloner using an oil pan and some nerf darts and air stone/pump.

I didn't use anything at all just cut and put the bottom of the cutting right above the water into the mist created by popping bubbles. I used straight tap water and my basement is around 65degrees. I didn't use any dome. I had one 9w cfl on a timer at 18/6. I eventually got roots...

I have a food grade container with a lid. I cut 2 inch holes and got some neoprene inserts. I have a flexible air stone with a water pump.

I use a shop light over my cloner. Something like 15w per sqft should be fine.

Dip n grow is great, not needed for cannabis, but may shave a day or two off and can be used to clone all sorts of other plants.

If you want to take extra big clones you may need a dome, but normal size ones usually do fine, and larger ones do better if you trim the fan leaves.

Hey buddy that all sounds good just make sure that since you are using just an air stone and not misters that you have plenty off bubbles and that the spray off those bubbles are reaching the ends of your cuttings.No dome is needed.Lastly make sure you keep your water temps in check,and just curious what genetics are you attempting to clone.

Should the tips of the cuttings be in the water or just right above? What temp should the water be? I was told it's gorilla grape when I first got it.

I would put them in the water, but I use a mister cloner.

Ideal temp is 57 -70 degrees over that issues will arise.it's a pain in the ads but frozen 20 ounce frozen water bottles work, or whatever but you must keep the temps down or imo your waiting your time, and I've had no problems with the tips of the bottom of the clones being like a quarter inch into the water or just above.The biggest issue with cloning hydro for me was always the water temps.If I was growing hydro I'd either invest in a water chiller or if that's not doable start in plugs or soil and once rooted rinse off roots and then to hydro but only at a last resort.hope that helped and didn't confuse you.just telling you what worked for me in the past

They work great. I built one from the same tutorial and had 100% success just using tap water. Only down side is that the five gallon bucket doesn't allow for many clone sites if you want decent spacing.

Yea I agree. Hope to use it soon. My needs are only 4 or 5 clones per month. So this is perfect. Plan to cut around 10 holes in the bucket lid tho. so I can choose the best 4 that are around the same size.

with you tap water users... what is your ppms at? I'm thinkin of switchin to tap.. all you 100%ers seem to be tap peeps!
