Actually I'm new to hydro all together. but think i am going to do a dwc system. there is a hydroponics store close by but they are expensive to buy stuff i can go to Lowe's or home depot for. but http://www.atlantishydroponics.com/Hydroponic-Deep-Water-Culture-Systems/Viagrow-Black-Bucket-Deep-Water-Bubbler-System-4-pack.asp thats the one I'm looking to DIY. The room is 3'9" x 4'7"x 8' tall. I do have a few questions before i go out and buy the supplies to get started.
1. What kind of medium? Hydroton or Via Stone. I will also get some starter cubes/plugs
2. will this light work http://www.atlantishydroponics.com/Complete-MH-and-HPS-Lighting-Systems/ViaVolt-400-Watt-Economy-Electronic-Grow-Light-System.asp also Atlantis Hydroponics Smart Sun, 6" Air Cooled reflector. Should I go with 400 watt or 600 watt for 4 plants to start.
The reason I thought this was a good light setup is because
Fast start-up - they reach full brightness quickly
Completely silent (big plus)
Small compact design
Produce less heat than traditional magnetic ballasts (another plus)
Fully interchangeable bulb capacity, ballast can light both HPS and MH bulbs..dont know much about mh bulbs. but i always heard you can do it all with HPS from start to finish.
3. I have some nutrients but not sure if they will work or not. http://www.formulaflora.com/product.php?productid=17530&cat=252&page=1 I have the start all in one pack. There is a feeding schedule on the site. Should I follow this http://www.formulaflora.com/pages.php?pageid=13 or no?
I think that is all for now. I'm sure I will think of more questions later. The cooling setup is common sense in my book. Cool fresh air in, hot bad air out. I can get air pump and stuff at the hydro store. but just want to check and see how my list of supplies is coming along. I will go to the store tomorrow or Saturday to get the supplies if yall think it will be OK.
Thank you,
-Matt
