New to indoor .. I have Qs!

I’m completely new to indoor! I have a garage that I want to use a 10x10 space to grow in. I have read that you get better yields from not using a tent. Is this true? And how many lights will I need in this space? Can anyone recommend some really good lights? My home is mostly solar powered. My walls in the garage are all finished sheet rock. And I’m also curious about temperature control in a garage, what are the best options? We get real hot days here. And how many plants would you recommend for that space size?

Buy a mini split for your garage. Get good lights, a dehumidifier and rock it.

I would use a tent just because it would be way easier and cleaner than just on the garage floor.
I would go with LED lights if startup money isn't an issue.
You could do anything number of plants from 4-50+ I personally would do 16 in a 10x10. 4 plants per 5x5 basically.

I can cover any costs that’s not really an issue.
Who is your customer? If personal use only 10 x 10 can be enough space for you to grow and harvest every few months.
seedling, clones, veg and flowers all in 10 x 10 if designed efficiently.

If you're looking for pounds for "gifting" then you may be looking for a different setup.

So you can do a lot with a little just be clear what your intent and needs are. No need to spend more than required
and wasted time can not be recovered.

Minis work wonders. My three car garage has a mini split for all of my cloning and such for y big grow. He said he lives in a hot ass place seems like a good idea to me.
You exhaust it how?

Add from another grow forum: “We currently have 10- 3 ton Daiken mini splits in veg and flower rooms. Through trial and error and the ever evolving knowledge in this industry, we have come to the conclusion that mini splits are not a good option for cannabis cultivation on a commercial scale. Though they have high SEER ratings, they do a terrible job of removing humidity and offer no filtration. What helps to make them efficient, (many small thin coils) also makes them bad for grows.”

No mini splits for this. Full AC. Window unit is fine.
I know absolutely nothing about mini-splits, but I'm learning. I will be constructing a grow room later on this year, and am just wondering, why would a mini-split not work for his application?

They’re great. Then you have to start considering your dehumidifier of course. More juice. More floor space used. Window AC.
