Should I run one large heat sink or make a frame with separate heat sinks and fans for each cxb?
I would spread them out to form a square. I used 8-CXB3590, 36v, 3500k, CD bin with 2-HLG-185H-C1400 for a total of 400 watts 36v x 1.4a = 50.4 watts x 8 cobs = 405 watts, and a good PPFD to go with it. i mounted my drivers outside the grow space for better heat control. I also added 18 Far Red Led diodes with an llpc-35-700, to the bloom light. good luck. peace.

I think I found all the parts I need. Just researching dimming circuits now and trying to decide on a configuration. Would it be beneficial to include 2 5000k imiters on a separate driver to use during flower? Or can I get good results with just 3500k? I'm planning on running 6 3590s (3 on each heatsink) with 2 drivers (dimming), 2 fans and will use my existing 240v line.
Standard dimming is a 10,000K pot with a 1000k resister on the positive leg with a meanwell C700B unit. The C700A unit has dimming built in with a pot behind the black bug. peace.

Im looking to do the same setup for a 1.2m tall 2x3 space. Id imagine that 6 cobs spread out running at 1.05a would get a good PPFD in either space, maybe Rahz can chime in
It appears from the driver matching schedule produced by SupraSPL that you would need two drivers for 3-CXB3590, 36v, 3500K cobs using 2- HLG-12H-C1400. That would give you 300w 50w/SF peace

How high should I keep this light above the canopy? I've been at 6-8" but have gotten some bleaching after I switched to 100% power. Other than minor ph meter mess up this plants looking good. View attachment 3644006
Looking great @selfmedicator462 ! I love the way she is all spread out now. How high is the light now? I ran mine slot higher on the first run but I had a 10" swing in canopy variation. 18" is what I saw when I started down this road but the variables are endless so a couple inches above the point of bleaching sounds good... :)

I was going to say what PV said. I too started at 6-8" with no lens/reflector. Turned a few of the tops bleached blond. I now go for 8-10" and only the occasional very slightest of bleaching on the tips. I like to lay down the max photon field I can get away with at about 15 PAR watts a square foot.

You could also leave them at 6-8" and dim them a little. I'm running at 4-6" and 42w, although I'm getting a little bleaching too.

She is stacking and packing on the weight. Nicely done. If you were to do it again is there anything you would change or do differently with your light.

I'll check out your grow journal when I'm finished researching a cob fixture to suit my girls needs

a Far Red bar is a simple build Cutter has the best binned Cree Xp's
& they have them as solderless Xp on pcb's as well
I used 3/4" u channel I got @ Ace hardware 14 xp & a meanwell per bar
Cutter came iin cheaper than Rapidled & I got the parts in 4 days from ordering
the meanwell I got here
http://www.trcelectronics.com/View/Mean-Well/LPC-35-700.shtml
with shipping for 2 it was the cheapest I could find this driver TRC ships fast as well
I got the 6 XP Far reds on a solderless PCB bar placed two PCB's on a bar & put 2 single solderless XP in the center to fill up each driver .

I inclu
Far red. Somebody mentioned it when I finished this light to incorporate it in.
I included far red leds into my light 12 far red led diodes 3w on an lpc-35-700. Have built two of these adding royal blue12 led diodes to my veg light. They love both colors got them at rapidleds along with driver cheapesy 3 day delivery. Peace looks good

I'm not sure. Not sure fans were necessary. Maybe a fan switch to turn them off. I'm still reading up on "red", might add some before next grow.
Would it be possible to add a fan controller and on/off switch for them to your setup. Run the cobs soft, run the fans at 50%. Run the cobs hard, have the fans at 100%
