New to MH Lighting

Before you read, i'd like to note this is my first grow.
I have grown seedlings into nice bonsai plants, i have already posted pics of them starting to bud in another thread. so far they are doing quite well :) now i have read many threads on MH vs HPS lighting and i have seen that majority prefer HPS so this is not my question.
i have two questions:
1. What would be better, keeping in mind my cupboard is painted white and is has an exhaust system already installed :), 1 x 400w MH globe and 1x 2ft 18w fluro tube (high in red spectrum) or my current 3 x 15w CFL and 3x 2ft 18w fluro tubes (covering all spectrums but favouring red) - or do i just leave it as is and make changes next grow as it only has 7-8 weeks left of flowering (dont wanna stress her)
2. If not for this grow, at least for my next, what extra's are needed to convert my lighing setup from CFL to MH/HPS - the fittings, fire safety, power overload, etc, i have heard i will need a ballast, and reflecter top, but what about anything else? transformer or something ive heard mentioned? REMEMBER I KNOW NOTHING AT ALL ABOUT THESE LOL (was given a 400w globe and im poor so ill use it)

What is a 400 watt globe does it have a ballast?
If so another option you could look into is ceramic metal halide the largest size they are available in is 400, and you can use that bulb through the whole process.

i have a 400w super metal halide globe i can use, but should i change to it now with only 8 weeks to go? and if so, what is a complete list of things with rough costs as to what i need to use this metal halide globe? i really am noob to HID lighting

by 400w super metal halide globe mean just the 400 watt mh light bulb like do you have a ballast for it.
and its almost never to late to add more light

cheers. as i said bro, i just have the globe. i have no idea what it even plugs into. thats what im trying to find out. dont wanna go to the local store and say im growin weed, help! lol
just need to know what e;lse i need to buy to get the globe in use :) (without causing a fire hazard)

C'mon guy,you need to do some serious reading before you attempt a grow,look at what you wrote & the questions you posed,you have done nearly zero research,you have no understanding of different lighting types,no idea how HID lighting systems work,no idea as to saftey measures needed to use the equipment ,so you post a thread instead of research.

Answering your many questions will only make you a dangerous grower,if you do not put in the time to fully understand all the issues you want fast answers to your chances of having a serious fire greatly increase.

We see quite a few threads asking about these bulbs,allways from very young people with no cash,most likely the bulb you have came from your local high schools janitors closet,the bulb is a commercial & industrial rough service bulb & much lower lumens compared to grow bulbs.

If you really think HID lighting is so complicated and dangerous. Maybe YOU shouldn't be growing. Im guessing YOUR the janitor with shitty bulbs in his closet. So you think your a lighting expert because you change light bulbs. LOL
