Hey all! New to the forum , been coming here for a while and have found everything I needed to know so far! I’ve got a few questions in regards to down to earth nutrients specifically their bio live / crab meal / langbenite and seabird guano.
In the past I’ve done DWC in DIY buckets and had great results with autos - yielding about 1lb per plant for my first 3 harvests! Recently I wanted to try soil out, a friend suggested FFOF so I went ahead with that in 5 gallon pots. I’ve read a bunch saying no nutes until about 4 weeks in because the OF is packed with nutes. I’ve always used general hydroponics / emerald harvest nutes in the past but wanted to try something organic - a buddy recommended DTE amendments. He told me to top feed bio live during veg and then crab meal and langbeinite during flower - once a week just sprinkle a handful and water in.
My main question is - when looking through DTE formulas I see that the seabird guano is a 0-11-0 whereas the crab is a 4-3-0. Would the guano not be a better source of phosphorus than the crab meal during flower? Also reducing nitrogen during that phase would be better correct? I’m guessing because I stop the bio live it still gives a small amount of nitrogen and that’s why he rec’d it? Still trying to gain a better understanding of what I should use in the terms of NPK values vs just following a feeding chart etc.
I appreciate any and all help in regards to this and growing in FFOF! I’ve become pretty interested in soil and how ‘alive’ it is and it’s pretty awesome !! Thanks in advance for all the help forum gurus!!
