Hey yall im very new to this and i am just wondering what the best way to get started on growing would be. i currently have mg soil with continous food release is this any good? also my plants are probably about 4 inches tall but the stems are very thin, is this okay? i dont mean to sound like an idiot, but i thought it might be a little cheaper on me in the long run if i grew my own instead of paying the outrageous prices around here.:-? :joint:

Miracle gro soil is not the best, but you can work with it. The thin stems are probaly because you do not have a small oscilating fan on them, and before you do anything, what do you have for lighting? After we know your serious by having the right light, we can discuss nutes.

i am not sure what kind of lights they are like i said i am new to this, but i picked the lights up at a green house that was going out of business. they said they used them for their poinsettas whether that is true i am not sure. they siad that i should use hallogen bulbs with the lamp is that right or no?? like i said i am very new.

by looking at other threads i think i have figured out some of my problems. for one i need the fan. thanxs for that advice videoman. also i have my light to far away i think. when should i repot though. my plants have been growing for about 1 and 1/2 weeks

Do you have any pics you can post? I'd be careful about moving the light to close yet. Too far thou and they'll stretch. You need to look at that light and look for any markings and/or post a pic?

to all who help those who give advice you are very cool people to help those who are less fortunate than yourselves. i hope that one day i can be as intuitave as yall are. and when that day comes i will be sure to spread the wealth of knowledge just as yall do. thank you all kindly. i know i sound like an idiot but i dont care because i am high. lol

unfortunately right now i dont have a camera, but my light is prob about 2 feet away. plus i think my hubby watered it again after i did. the soil seems a lot wetter than it was about 2 hour ago i will kick his a$$ lol

Yeah, double watering is bad, kick his ass but hard! You need to figure out that light, go look at a lighting supply store maybe, and try to match it up, try this one....High Tech Garden Supply They are good people.

just to let you know the seeds i have now are just out of my bag of greens that i was smoking on, but i do have some early misty seeds on the way. i picked those cause i pretty much have the same name lol. personal attachment makes the high better i think lol

I dont know how many you want to grow or anything, so assuming you are growing for personal use and not for profit....I'd suggest a 400 wat hps system, or maybe one with interchangable bulbs, either way, it'll set ya back about $120 bucks only, but well worth it. heres a link

thank you for the info i went to franks nursery and got a 600 watt growbright bulb. i hope that is okay it they said it was one of the best type of bulbs. keeping my fingers crossed. thanks again for your help videoman40.
