Newbie and want to be self sufficient. Are these young hybrids doing ok?

The pics I'm posting are Dina Fem Kush n Cheese, and were taken 2 hours ago. They are 2 weeks old from seed. At the moment they are being lit by 3x23 watt cfl and 2x 13watt cfl all at 6500K. The lights are about 3 inches from the babies, 2 above and the others mounted on a board horizontal to them..

They are in miracle gro premium soil and watered when the top 2 inches of soil are dry. I water them with tap water left out overnight, and a ph of 6.8 or so using Ph Down.
My veg cycle is 20/4, and I have a recip fan on low on them at all times. I just started adding about 10 drops of liquid miracle grow 12-4-8 to 2 litres of prepped water. I water them slowly, and add extra until it drains out the bottom.

I am getting a bit of mold fly action, but am using hanging sticky strip at the light level, and I spray them after watering (this seems to be when those effing flies get active) with Doktor Doom Go Green Plant spray.

The tips of some of the leaves seem burnt. Maybe too close to the cfl's? Or nute burn?

I used to work underground as a jack-leg driller, but my health is crap and I'm on disability now. I had been getting by with buying "nothing special" weed for $240 an oz to deal with the pain while I was able to work. On disability here in Canada forget it. My doctor has also refused to sign a permit to buy medical grade marijuana. I guess he would rather have me ask for fricking perco prescriptions like all the other junkies in this small northern town do. Forget that.

So my only choice is to setup a grow in my spare bedroom, and I have done a lot of research on what equipment to get for an in-home 10 or so plant grow. I'm expecting money back thru the NBAC, hopefully this month, and I will be ordering 2 tents with 6" inline fans with carbon filters. I'm also going to get a couple of 540w led 3w panels. One for the veg tent and one for the flower tent.

I also will be getting proper accessories to do the work correctly. Nutes, soil additives, tools, cloning items, a better pH tester, handheld microscope, bud trimmer, hanging bud drying trays and more.

I want to clone them as soon as possible, and I want to clone by soil cups instead of using rockwool. I can use all the positive input you all can share.

Thanks for viewing.IMG_0507.jpgIMG_0512.jpgIMG_0513.jpgIMG_0514.jpg

Hey Kasnitch,
Little plants look great, Definite indica look to them already. I don't see any nute burn. If anything, to me, they are a tiny bit on the light green side...though nothing requiring action. (plus I am a bit color blind) lol

I'm on disability too and in the states it's enforced poverty, even though I worked most of my life. Sucks. So you could get the fricking perco prescriptions...sell them, and buy weed with the proceeds. Or go to a different doctor (not possible in your system?

Carry on...looks like your well on your way to self sufficiency.
Peace,
JD

Thanks for the reply John. Up here I'm in a town of 500 or so people. Too many low income people are messed up on percs and a 30 goes for prob $60 up here. Pill junkies are really messed up people, so I don't want to contribute to that problem. They also pee test anyone with scrips for them regularly now.

Enforce poverty here also, and I worked most of my adult life, and would still be doing it, but too many injuries. Here disability is about $1100 a month, but after rent, tele and some food all gone.

Peace as well sir.

If your in MG soil, you should need to feed them for quite a few weeks. I grew In MG orchid mix last grow and I didn't feed anything until flower. Those guy at Miracle Gro pack their soils with a lot of nutes. And their liquid nutes are pretty potent as well. I'd say lay off the feeding a for a couple more weeks until they tell you they are hungry. Other than that, they look like really nice little indica plants! Keep it up! Happy growing!

Thanks for the heads up. I keep a close watch on them, so if I start to see nute burn, I'll flush them and go from there. :weed:

Kasnitch,
Is that miracle gro premium soil the organic stuff? In either case, like Longarms90 said, they shouldn't need feeding for awhile.

Good for you regarding selling your pills. I was actually making a joke...but a bad one. I wouldn't want to feed someones harmful addiction either.

Best of luck on your grow,
JD

i have had super luck with my aero cloner....costs maybe 40 bucks and 10 min to build

rockwool is junk and soil cloning sucks because theres no way to see if they are taking root..

you will need

1 5 gal bucket and lid
8 2 inch net pots
8 2 inch neophrene inserts
a 250 gph pump
a small piece of pvc
1 sprayer tip
1 pvc end cap
1 seedling heating mat (optional)
clonex solutiion

i use a seedling heating mat due to my basement floor being cold but it seems like they root alot faster with it. i typically see roots after about 5 days and sometimes earlier than that!!

took a couple pics for ya to see how its setup.

Let me start by sayin' welcome to RIU  where we never feed our seedlings until about the 3rd or 4th week :o but they do look good...yep for the first month or so mine usually grow themselves as long as I water, it's when they start "needing" nutes that it can get tricky cuz different strains like different ammounts of nutes, but, the best bet for your veg nutes is to get something on an even keel like 1-1-1...not necessarily that low...if I have to add nutes to mine, wich is rare cuz I run a supersoil, I use a 10-10-10 for veg and 10-20-20 in flower...good luck man

Thanks for the welcome and great responses from RIU. I'm hoping to be a good member here, and help contribute to the cause one day. I will be upping pics in a grow thread about the girls on a regular basis.

Very excited about growing my own happy plants and clones. I like to do things right the first time, so maybe I can develop a green thumb in my retirement years??
Gah.... I forgot about the reply with quotes. :(

You can edit and even delete a thread. Go advanced with the edit (easier) and you delete through the edit button too. Give it a try for practice...

One of those was not on my list, but sure is now. Thanks !!

Hi,
Isn't there a difference between hydro roots and soil roots? And so shouldn't cloning for a soil grow be done on peat pucks, or ready rooters or something like that?

Cloning just isn't that hard using a humidity dome and peat...I got 100% consistently. And aero cloning isn't fool proof. An infection will kill the whole batch.

Just saying Kasnitch...research this a bit,
JD

if your going to use plugs use rapid rooter plugs. rockwool sucks and ill stand by that. im not sure if theres a difference in soil and hydro cloning. my pplants go into RDWC. definatly worth a bit of research before you go ahead and make any purchases.

Been reading a lot of topics in RIU since last night. I did check out aero cloners vs other methods, soil, plugs etc., from what I've seen, I'm willing to try aero rooting and then transplant to soil.

I tried a small natural light grow and cloning with rockwool this past year, with results commensurate with my ignorance of growing. IE not worth a darn. I tried cloning using a dome with 6 cuttings. Hate that method. 3 cuttings with cloneX never made it, and surprisingly 2 0f 3 cuttings heavily covered with local grown clover honey did make it somewhat. I managed to get 3/4 z from those 2 after 1 month or so of veg and 2 of flower.

Since then I've been doing weeks of research, and since this upcoming disability one-time payment is coming into my life hopefully soon, I am determined to learn how to grow like a pro. On a small scale of course.

I plan to veg no more than 8 weeks.. maybe less if they do well. I'm going to try fimming instead of scrog. I think scrog is a bit advanced for me atm.

Here are some pictures of the plants I did harvest this summer with window sunlight, and little else other than stuff from a hardware store. This summer was my first attempt to grow and it showed. The buds were of course loose, but the smoke was sweet and tasty, with a nice mix of medium low of body stone and elation effect. Not bad for local ditch weed seeds I got from a buddy in the spring I guess.

I'm also going to keep better journals of my garden in future.
