I figured out all of my lighting issues. Turns out it was the bulb all along. I now have them under a 600 watt HPS Extra Par bulb by GE its called Lucalux and it is horticulture specific, the ballast fired right up.

Nice grow! This is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. I am also doing my first grow, also flood and drain and also with Cutting Edge nutes. Where did u place your screen with respect to where the light is? I'm pretty sure I need to screen mine but I don't know how high to make the screen. Keep it up, I'll be following this one for sure!

I placed the screen ten inches above the medium, I then kept the light about 20 inches above that until the screen filled up. I also have a pretty shitty hood though and would have put the light closer but it wouldn't have given me the same amount of coverage.

Here's a pic of my swcreen. I made it from one inch pvc and plastic construction fencing I had laying around. I attached the fencing to the pvc with a bunch of zip ties and made it really tight. After that I used hose clamps and more zip ties to attach the screen to the frame of the tent.

I'm interested to watch your grow as well. What do youthink of the CES nutes, personally they have been great for me. However I was having a problem with white slime in my rez. I e-mailed the GM of CES and he said it happens with the Uncle John's in some areas do to an unknown affect with certain local water. To remedy it I just don't add the UJB until the batch of nutes is ready to go in. I have been keeping the next batch mixed up a week prior to when it will be needed that way the PH has time to balance out, seems like that takes 5 days or so where I live.

Mr. Paulson, you're the man! Thanks for all the great info, if I go with the screen I'll definitely be using the PVC idea. As far as the nutes go I'm happy with them but mine is a VERY uninformed opinion. The nutes I'm using now are the first I've ever bought so I have nothing else to compare them against. And as for mixing them I've just been mixing them in the reservoir, running my circulation pump for about 12 hours then checking the ph and it's actually come out right at 6 for me and held pretty steady over time. I've got some major work to do on my ventillation/temperature control/humidity control but once that's settled I'll be starting my own grow journal and I'll let you know. For now keep up the good work, I'll be checking it out!

Have yopu heard of many people using the CES nutes? I'm the only person I know using them right now. That's crazy it only takes half a day for your PH to stabalize, mine takes more like 3 days, I also get slime build up from the uncle johns blend. I guess I most have something not typical, at least of nor cal, in my water.

About two weeks ago I attempted my first try ever at cloning and well, everything went great! I took a total of 12 cuttings and so far I am 12 for 12, all have developed nice, healthy roots. I used a generic root gell along with this stuff called G-Rex that was sent to me by CES. 4 I used only root getl, 4 I used only G-Rex, and 4 I used both. All of the cuttings are doing great, but I must say the 4 that I used both on are doing especially well. The 4 with only root gel and very comparable to the 4 I only used G-Rex with.

Everything is going good. Switched to a better hood, my last one was giving me pretty spotty coverage. I trimmed some fan leaves the other day that were covering bud sites, I think it may have been a bad idea because they were also feeding bud sites, guess I will find out as the weeks progress. Not sure what this is. I noticed it a couple days ago, its been really wet wet where I live lately and the humidity is way up. Since I noticed this I've increased the ventilation added three 5" fans, for a total of six, and turned down the heat a bit. The humidity in the tent had got up to 65% at 80 degrees with the light on, the temp light off is about 70. I know have the tent at 52% at 67 degrees lights off, when they come on I have the ability to control the temp.

I really would like to figure out what this is. I thought it might also be salt deposits from evaporation, the white substance only seemed to be in areas that were not getting direct air flow from the fans.

Here's also some update pics.:blsmoke:

I'm totally stoked about how well everything is going so far. Th epowdery mold problem went away for the most part with a couple milk treatments. I now know I need to get a dehumidifier before winter gets here again, the air here in this area is just way to humid, it's not the plants or hydro causing it.

Back to the fat buds, check out the update pics. This is officially day 17 of flower and look at the progress! I can't wait to see what these babies end up like.May 30 3.jpgMay 31 3.jpgMay 31 4.jpgMay 31 2.jpgMay 31 1.jpg

I have slowly been trimming foliage and shoots that will not produce quality buds. As the weeks progress I will continue to trim more and more and hopefully soon it will be nothing but dank buds.

I hate talking to myself. Then why do you do it? Not sure.
Don't worry I do the same thing on my grow journal. Nice grow man! Keep at it even though not everyone is posting, it will help people that are just lurking and learning plus when you have a stoner moment and can't remember something you did on a previous grow at least you can go back over it. At least that's what I tell myself.
