Hey all you guys! You have a lady here that is some what new at growing and could use some advice. I'm getting ready to grow some Arjan Haze #1. First let me give you some info of what kind of envirement I have. I have a 6 1/2 ft tall closet with 3ft width. Inside is covered with mylar. 400 watt ballast with MH and HPS Hortilux bulbs. There is a medium size blower fan installed that blows the air outside the closet and a regular small fan to keep the heat down. I'm using organic soil and fertilizer. I've never grown seeds like this before so I would love to get some tips and advice before starting! thanks guys

Hi, Sexy ...

First off, Hazes are a Sativa, and as such, they need a LOT of headroom because they stretch like crazy. Remember those pictures in High Times of the 20-foot plants? Well ... they're Sativas. When growing hazes indoors in a closet environment, you need to start the flowering cycle early, like when the seedlings are really small ... say like a few inches tall. Also, the pure Sativas have a long flowering period, like 12 to 18 weeks, so be prepared for some long times between crops. Additionally, when finished, the buds will be wispy-like and not the full, compact buds experienced with Indica crosses. On the up side though ... Sativas have rush-like head highs and can be very trippy and enjoyable. On the downside, some Sativas can cause paranoia type highs. All of these problems are the reasons why most Sativas grown indoors are crossed with Indicas.

Good luck ...

If you put them into 12/12 before they're mature, they won't flower..... just stretch. You want to top them early and train them to stay short..... and read.

Hey thanks for the info... At what height do you think I should start topping them since they grow so fast? And how far into growth should I let it get before I switch to flowering?

Hey Vi, Thanks very much for the info! Is it true though that the plant won't flower if I start the flowering stage when they are so small and not mature yet?

Top at the 3rd node and flower when you know the sex. Continue tying them down at least a month into flower, and feed absolutely no nitrogen for the last month.

Yeah, the flowering bit is right on. It's why seedlings being grown outdoors don't flower under the long nights of early spring. It's the same with all species though. You wouldn't expect a 5 year old girl to be having babies would you?
