Hey all I'm doing my first grow got a but left to flower soon tho doing my first harvest without having a real clue.

I used pro mix (suggestion from a buddy who grows) using fabric bags from stores which is cool it works well. Running an aglex 1000w led which is doing amazing job.

So indoor 2 plants a substantially smaller than one, 2 of them got stunted because i was stupid one day lol. 1 of those decided he was gonna just go boom and got huge.

I am doing autos which is pretty awesome. I screwed up and burnt them a bit thx to nuts, well probably more than a bit lol.

So not much can be done now with it however so let's see what happens hahahah.

So I live in Canada so I don't have the same options as those from the states however I dont really want to go to hydro. So I plan to try a different grow soil ahd larger bags this time. For those from here the largest dollarama bags. Curious how much soil will go in one?

So read about super soils and found one in Canada. Pricy but I want to see the difference. Stepwell super soil is like 56 lbs 126 some odd liters. 105 to my door however. Anyone got other suggestions? I have a busier life so I can use nuts but wanna see what super soil will do with just water. Other suggestions are very welcome? I get fox farm blahh blah not readily available where I live for a reasonable price.

Tresses I plan to use this time too or idea for plant suppose for once budding hits? I notice my plants now are weighed down a fair bit. Give me as much advice as possible.

So some notes I plan to get another 1 or 3 1000w grow lights where I have 4x4 tent only have 1 fan now however I see I will probably need more once I add more lights? Is a dehudifier i have been mentioned about getting? So far didn't need one so fan wise how many more would I need? One each corner? Or an air purifier?

Lemme see if I can break this down a bit...

1000 watt light? What kind? Pics? Model? A 1000 watt single ended HPS is all you need in a 4x4 tent. Do you have some sorta LED that claims to be 1000 watts but really isnt? Need more info.

Pics are worth 1000 words, lets see what you got going on.

I agree with Renfro man, that was a bit of a tough read. What do you mean by "So I live in Canada so I don't have the same options as those from the states"? Do you mean soil options?

Are you speaking of trellis? Horti-trellis or other similar plastic trellis is what I recommend. Avoid the crappy string shit thats stretchy and sheds fibers into your sticky nugs.

Autos.... ugggghhhh.... Don't get me started lol... Once you get a few runs under your belt I highly recommend trying a quality photo run, learn to clone, setup a veg tent... but for now we have our work cut out setting you up from the sounds of things. Budget? Goals?

There's a lot of ways to skin a cat and a lot of cats to skin. Just for starters we can help you figure out what will work best for you in terms of environmental control as temp, RH%, CO2 levels all need to be taken into account. We are gonna have to discuss a lot of things in this thread lol.

Like I mentioned previously, pics, goals, budget... and we will get right to the nitty gritty lol Lot of smart and experienced folks here with their cat skinning knifes sharp.

What options are you lacking as a Canadian? I have been able to find everything that I need, only issue I have come across was when I wanted to buy an HLG diy LED kit because the Canadian HLG website is *considerably* more expensive then the US one. But if you are looking for LED panels there are solid equivalent boards from kingbrite that can be found on alibaba. Everything else I have been able to find at local shops, or online (amazon.ca is a great source obviously).

You need to start with a thermometer/hygrometer so that you can tell us the temperature and RH in your tent, we need to know this information to answer whether you need a dehumidifier, how much exhaust/intake air you need etc. I have 2 small oscillating fans in my tent on opposite poles just to keep the air circulating, my exhaust pulls a significant negative pressure so that's how I get my air flow in there.

You can buy a trellis net but I would suggest instead that you just make a frame out of PVC or 2x2" scrap wood, some screws and some string. It gives the tent structure and in my experience hold down the plants better as you train them, see attached pic. Avoid TWINE (which I think is what Renfro is referring to), string is fine.

I made these $5 DIY 'air purifiers' using a 6" toilet flange, some cardboard (from a pizza box), gorilla tape and a filter (MERV13) cut to shape and covered with cut up nylons (to act as a pre-filter). You probably don't need to buy an air purifier, I did this because I was having mould issues in harvest, but it's still a cheap easy choice if you're worried.

Welcome to the forum! Canadian here as well, west coast.

If you’re unable to find a good super soil for a decent price, you could always go with dry amendments and create your own super soil. This will allow you to tweak the mixture for what you need.

As for fans and airflow: I like to add 3-5 fans in (depending on how many plants are in my 4x4) As long as you see the leaves moving all over, you’ll know you have decent airflow

This is good advice. Can you show the OP what your setup looks like?

Well the light is a aglex k100. 1000 watt plants have responded really well to it to be honest. So I am happy with it plan to grab 1 more quantum board ight for my next grow off Amazon.

I just threw dirt in a bag and planted 3 seeds on that grow and lightly used nuts except 1 day. 1 day I screwed up hard and had an incident. I hveb1 fan I am getting 2 to replace that massive fan. It does really well and I will set something up to get readings in the next day or so.

I am on the east coast of Canada in newfoundland but west coast of the island. Amazon is a god send for nearly everything honestly, I can do soil from them to make my own however buying the super soil stright from the company isn't that bad regardless it would 65 per 85lbs bag. Shipping puts it at 105 roughly taxes in which is not terrible.

I need to figure out a good system of support for grow 2 for the plants, and hook up a vent onsted of relying on the open vents for once I get the second light abd heat will increase. Right now it isn't bad at all.

I had thoughts and means of making things better I can build nearly anything from wood and/or plastic. Keep in mind ill be using autos abd can figure out anything if the decide on it. I half ased my first grow but surprisingly it is doing way better than I expected.

Anyways right now because heat isn't a real issue I have 3 plants in a 4x4 tent. Again I love Amazon tent was like 70 on sale. The k100 not expensive either and surprisingly amazing for what you get. I know I have a lot of room to improve and will be doing a few things after this one and the tent is empty.

The soil I am looking at getting is stepwell super soil for the next one, and I will grab nessary temp and humidity guages and a ph meter if nessary for the soil.

well i read a bit more into the thread now besides skimming though the tough read comments. Sorry about that btw, I tend to info dump and barely think before I speak or type. I did post up my tent setup and I know not pretty but I threw it together to see what happens and now I have a more keen interest in it.

the tiny plants on the side are water melons and cantaloupe just a heads up. They will be grown in the 4x4 next to my other plants until I get a couple 2x4 tents. Plan is to suspend those where they are vine.

as for why it is hard to get items where I am too in newfoundland I rely on Amazon primarily and what they have which is great. So lights tents and everything will be from there. There is not much locally and you pay double for it at least here besides summer you can get dirt. Winter it is very slim options here for anything.

my goal is to produce the best quality plant possible, smoke it and get my friends to smoke it and enjoy a good time because I got tired if not getting a buzz besides from certain home grown. I grow 3 plants at a time but I can switch it upto cloning and using normal after my next batch of autos (they will he a test for this super soil).

currently I water my plants every 2 days sometimes every 3 depending how the soil feels. Promix i used i beleive was one for planting and growing. A buddy told me don't add any nuts until after the first month and a half so I never and it did awesome.

so the plan in my head for the next grow will be something along these lines since I did a lot more research and noted some stuff my buddy told me was trash. I will make or repurchase something my have to elevate my plants off the floor a inch or 2. Second grow light, I am between another aglex k100 or a grossyland 1000w (cheap and reasonable reviews). I am looking at getting 10 gal grow bags insted of the shop bags maybe, I am keen on trying the larger ones the what I did. Replace the large fan with a few smaller ones for the corners, the large one is awesome but occupies a lot if room in the tent. Then there will be getting the soil meters you guys mentioned?

support for the plants is where I will need some information. Now I just said screw it and grew plants with little to no knowldge. I have noted during flower currently they are progressively being weighed down. So I will have to figure out a good support if I do not use any other methods I am unfamiliar with. I have seen doing sea os green my buddy trains his plants to curve or splits the main into two?

I seen about CO2 someone posted? I don't add anything special and from reading the majority of info online most people say it is not anything of significance?

anyways yeah stright up dont know shit here. Besides I said screw it and grew 3 autos abd decided i like this as something to do.

Hey Man, so the first thing you should realize is your 1000 watt light is only 100 watts. You have plenty of options for lights in Canada, I am in Ontario. That is very underpowered for your space. First thing I would do is look for a better light and not by that company as they are liars. I really hate when companies deceptively do things like calling their light 1000 watt light when they know it is 100 watt light. They do this to rip off new growers who have not figured out their scam yet. I figure if their product was any good they would not have to lie to make it sound better.

I get that it burns 100w power it gives out the equivalence of 1000w, this is something I have done a large amount of research on. Mostly for others who grow vegetables and fruit for the last few years. When it comes to led lights it depends the type of leds and the driver and honestly brand. I am not utilizing the whole space at the moment for 3 plants.

Now as for lights I already plan to order more led lights just have to do more looking into what I am after. The k100 preformed better than my expectations from the light. That is mostly due to Samsung leds and a good driver.

Hey bud, that light is not even close to being equivalent to 1000watts. Anyway I have no interest in arguing about it as I have done plenty of research into LED's. If you are happy with it than I suppose that's all that matters. Good luck with you plants.
