What's up fellas, i'm new here, just started a little crop of my own for the first time. I'm not sure if i'm posting in the right section but it is indoors, using CFLs. I only have one crop, so lets cross our fingers and hope it ends up being a female. I just planted it about 30-36 hours ago once i saw that it germinated, and she's already starting to poke her little head out of the dirt :-P .

This seems to be a great community for information, seeing as how every time i had a question about growing and google'd it i ended up on this forum. Anyway, if she ends up being female i'm going put her in the flowering stage after only a couple weeks, i just want the satisfaction of smoking my own herb, im not looking to sell so if she only yields 7 grams i'll be happy. I'll post pictures up later in the week when she starts maturing into the beautiful woman i know she'll be :weed:

aye good luck...the trick with CFL's is to get as many 23-26watters cascaded around the plant within 1-2" once it starts to really grow(after its gone through its "seedling" stage)...right now you can keep em about 4-6" away and just slowly bring them in closer as it grows :)

ah some more great information, thanks man. yeah i actually have two 26 watt cfls on her right now, only a few inches away. lumen to watt ratio is around 67.5 so for low wattage lights i think i should be good for one small crop, correct?

by the way, i didnt buy seeds. my friend had a bag of some home grown where the males weren't taken away soon enough, so the bag had a few seeds. no way of knowing how or what this bud will actually turn out to be like if its grown correctly but where do you guys go for quality seeds?

Remember you want a bulb kelvin temperature below 4k 2500 -3000 preferred for flowering Dont use cool white.

theyre 26watt, 2600k, 67 lumen:watt. its doubled in size since yesterday and now has two little tiny leaves! should i be carefull with how close the bulbs get to the plant while shes small?

ill check out your thread man. i think i might go out and get two 5400k+ fluorescents to put going up the sides of my grow space, with the 24watt 2600k on top. any specific wattage to be used for vegging along with more kelvins?

okay i gave you guys some wrong information about what lights im using right now, not that it matters much. but they are 26 watt, 2700k, 67 lumens:watt. Walmart, home depot, and lowes dont have any lights better than 18watt T8 (4100k). will two of those, along with my two 26watt 2700k be sufficient for vegging? then just the 26watts for flowering?

I went ahead and got a 30watt CFL, 2100 lumens and 3500k. I think im going to get another tomorrow and see how she vegges under two of them and one 26watt 2700k.

I just got a T5 18watt 2" 4100k, but the entire setup was somewhat expensive, and im not sure if it will even be worth the money for 4100k.

EDIT: okay so i read 3500k is next to useless. i'm going to eat the $5 loss on that bulb, take the 4100k T5 fixture back, and go to lowes and pick up this right now:

http://www.lowes.com/pd_345544-75774-L23TM4/5K_0__?productId=3335988&Ntt=6500k+cfl+bulbs&pl=1&currentURL=/pl__0__s?Ntt=6500k+cfl+bulbs&facetInfo=

5000k 23w should be way more useful than 2700k or 3500k right now. Should i put any other lights with the 5000k? maybe one 2700?

Rule of thumb is ~6500K for veg, and ~2700K for flowering. Also during flowering you want 100+ watts on one plant. I have 4 45w bulbs on two clones right now, during flowering those two same plants will have 4 42w bulbs and 6 40w bulbs, 10 total bulbs.

Man it's your plant do as you wish. Put it in choke hold throw it in the yard . That's the best thing about growing your own but I would listen what above poster just said

Whats up guys, i know my thread is boring but i need more advice. my boy had some kill dank, just happened to find a seed in his OZ. i germinated the seed, and it should be ready for soil by late tonight. is there a problem in growing two crops in one pot? its a decent 3 gal size pot, and im only going to veg for a few weeks, so that they stay pretty small. also, do i need to double my lighting and how much water i give to them? let me know, thanks in advance.

ahhhh reading owns me! i read up more, im thinking 3 gallon pot is way too big right now so im going to transplant my baby back into a solo cup, start the other seed in a solo cup, and then when they are ready to start flowering can i transplant them into the same big pot together?

Use a few 2 gallon soda bottles cut down with a razor for vegging your plants. Then when you want to transplant go to 2-3gal pots each. DO NOT put two plants in the same pot, their root systems will be fighting for food, water, and space from what I understand. There are plenty of things you can use as makeshift plant pots if you are under a budget. Yes you will want more light with more plants.

im not sure what ur saying, it is more important to have extra lighting during flowering. if ur just vegging for a couple weeks, like u said in ur first post, then u could probably get away with a few 26 watt bulbs, as long as u keep them close to the plant, then add a few more during flowering. also, mixed spectrum of 6500K and 2700K, mostly 6500k for vegging, then mostly 2700 for flower but always mix. hope some of this helps
