Newbie Question - Light Schedule and cold...

Hey Folks,

Growing 2 Auto under two Mars Hydro TS 600 in a tent in the house attic which is not insulated.

Previews ladies where under 18/6 and everything worked perfectly.

Unfortunately now winter is starting and it gets pretty cold, for this reason I set the light cycle to 20/4 running during the night to avoid the temp to drop.

This is okay for most of the days, but sometime it can get really cold and i noticed that during the 4 dark hours temp can drop under 15 till 10 celsius (while with the light is around 21), this does not happen always but just in the colder days.

Yeah solution is easy I know, keep the light 24h, but my bills are already pretty high and I really would like to avoid keep them constantly switched on unless i need to keep the temp high, so the question is....

can i keep the default light schedule 20/4 and switch it to 24 just during colder days? Will my ladies get stress by that or is it not a big deal?

I think the consensus is you can run autos 24/7 I run mine at 20 hours, Autos can be run at any light schedule I've read, some people have them in 24/7 for the yield, I don't know if this works out though, try to run your lights when the coldest weather hits, I know what you mean about the loft, I am hoping to use it but temps get pretty low, only thing I can think of is insulate better and have an oil filled radiator, they seem to cost the least to run.

I got two internal FAN and an exhaust ventilation, plus two dehumidifier.

My tent is 40cm x 90cm x 1.60m

Sorry i did not explain myself, do you think my plant will get nuts if i set the light 24hours just for the colder days while the others i leave it 20hours?

so for example:
  • Monday: 20h light on
  • Tuesday: 20h light on
  • Wednesday: 24h light on
  • Thursday: 20h light on
  • Friday: 20h light on
  • Saturday: 20h light on
  • Sunday: 24h light on

Nope, I think it will be fine.

( Autoflowers) Ruderalis, what I've read it does not really matter what light schedule you give this plant. I could be wrong, others will tell you I'm.sure.

How many actual watts do those lights pull? A quick Google and I guess about 100 each.....if you put a fan and heater in there watch out because if you use more than 200 watts you're better off just keeping the lights on.

It looks really good! how big is your tent? it look same as mine, and also what light do you use?

I'm a super anxious person...i would really like to avoid heating in the green house plus the electricity bill can be another issue.

I'm super lazy, try to deal with it just tuning the light schedule :hump:
I use Spider Farmer lights. tent is 2x4x6.5ft

Hows the humidity? Can you turn down the speed on the exhaust fan some, keeping the warmed air in the tent longer before exhausting it? Considered draping a blanket or two over the top of the tent?

Humidity is under control with light open (50/55) it raise to 60 65 during the dark hours... another little issue that i try to control with the dehumidifier... I did not think at the blanket, i can give it a try...

My exhaust fan is the cheaper so no, i can't tune it at the moment, but i'm considering to purchase a new one
