Yes -- that's a very good match between space and light power. I assume you mean 400W HPS or MH? Or better yet, switchable between the two?

If switchable, the MH is superior for veg growth, the HPS for flowering.
Thanks for replying. yes i have the HPS, do i need a diff light for veg?

Holy crap this thread is moving fast. I cant keep up!

Hey I have a question about sprouted seeds, will seeds that have just sprouted the soil be ok in cold temperatures such as the 30s because I'm interested in growing my new seeds outside but I'm afraid that the cold temperatures during the mornings in winter time could freeze or kill the plant.
30 degrees will kill ANY pot plant. Pot CAN NOT see temperatures lower than 60 for any extended period of time. If you had 1 night that it went down to 45, they might be okay. 30 will kill it though.

I have a 400wtt bulb in a 2by 4 tent Is this ok for veg\flowering. help first time greeeeeen thumb
Yes, this is a suitable area to grow in- your biggest challenge will be keeping the temps low enough. make sure you have a good intake fan and exhaust fan for your room. (intake at the bottom, exhaust at the top, keeps fresh air cycling).

thank you so much! ur the first person to make sense to me lol, so if i understand you right, get 5 cfl's for the veg state, then when time to flower switch over to the 1000w hps and light with them? (only gonna use one room, i figure it will yield enough to last untill next flower stage, plus the roomate would kill me if he knew lol.) thanx again for being the "go-to" guy, your incredibly kind for answering all our noob questions!
I would use the 5 CFL's for vegging the plants until they have about 3 sets of leaves. Then, Id use the HPS AND the CFL's. The HPS provides a LOT of light for strong growth, but the plants do need SOME blue light for veg. Use the HPS and the blue cfl's for vegging, and you can remove the CFL's for flowering.

I'd recommend having a perpetual autoflowering setup. 18 hours of light, and you can start a seed every two weeks (ie, harvest a plant every two weeks). Perpetual harvests are much easier with autoflowering plants (less difficult to get the timing right).

Thanks again SenorSanteria. I got it working. I also found a ph number for the company and I called them. Even the Tech had to get help because of the 4th wire. Ended up not using the turquoise wire. Your help is awesome. I have no trouble growing out doors. I will be reading your advice you have given for indoors. A couple tricks I have for outside is,,, as the buds growing tip begines to strech, pinch the end back 1/4 inch. It will make the bug grow fatter. 1/4 oz more per 1oz. Also, I noticed in a drought, the rats would chew the bottom of the stem really bad. Every plant that was chewed,,,grew larger and fatter buds, over the plants that didnt get chewed. I use a fork or knif to scare the stem. Also,,when harvesting a plant. Take the whole plant and roots. Clean off the roots and place the plant (roots) in a boiling pot of water. Boil for a few minutes then hang to dry. This will force the resins in the roots to be pushed into the buds. Have a great New Year,,,,, Aloha,,,,
THC is a non-mobile element within the plant. It does not move up and down through the roots or stems. It is produced and secreted only on the leaves. The boiling of the roots is an old wives tale, and wont make your bud stronger. If anything, it would hinder the drying process because youre adding so much more moisture to the vegetation while boiling.

Senor,
I'm using (3) 5-gal buckets in a bubbleponics setup. two are used hold plants and one acts as a reservoir. I've been keeping a close eye on the water level and i'll make sure it is topped off before I go. So far, I haven't had to add any more water. I'll also make sure and set the CFL lights up and get both seedlings under clear plastic domes. Can you tell me when would be a good time to start adding nutes? Right now, there are just in distilled water. I was going to start them on 1/4 nutes once the first real set on leaves comes out after the cotyledons. Got the Gh Flora series. I'm still debating whether or not to use the Lucas method. Any thoughts on that would be much appreciated as well. Thanks again for all the help.
I dont like to start adding nutes until the plant has a few sets of leaves and a decent root system. Some people start once a seedling is a week old, I wait until they have like 3 sets of leaves and start at 1/4 strength.

Refresh me on the Lucas method?

my question: is it better to raise temps last couple weeks of flowering to help them explode with final growth?
I've heard this with humidity, not temp. The plant produces resin to help protect itself from low humidity. Lowering the humidity in the final weeks of flowering is said to help in thc production.

Brother i need some help here man.. i need to know the measurements for inventory. like reggie is less expensive than korn and korns less expensive than dro.. but what would be a good measure for korn???? like dime, dub, and so on... ive been tokin up since i was 12 but recently decided to sell can you help out???
Where I'm from, we use different terms than you, and I can find large fluctuations in prices.

Reggies (we call them mids) I can get for $95-130 an ounce, or $60 for a half. I can always find mids for more expensive.. but who would pay more than that for mids? Not me.

Decent indoors (non-seeded but not headies) goes for $45-50 an eighth (1/8oz), or like $220 an ounce.

Headies (dro) is $60-65 an 1/8 or $360-400 for an ounce.

Thanks for answering my last post. One more then I think I know it all mwahahahaha.

Do in need a ppm meter? Im growing aero so im guna have a reservoir. I was just going to use a standard procedure like topping it off with water one rday and half nute water the next. and I am going to release carbon with yeast and sugar so i think ill be safe there too but idk. Thanks for all your help.
I ppm meter is very helpful for reading you nutrient solution. Anything you do without it will be a guess. You can grow without a PPM reader (i dont have one), but I assume it would be very valuable for hydro... I'm a dirt grower, so my hydro knowledge is limited. My only hydro setup is a DWC cloner.

1)starting from seed, how big should the plant be before you put it under a 400w hid.
2) to keep a mother plant in veg. with lights on 24/7 what is the least or avg. cfl watts needed. (single plant)
Keep in mind that the plant will double in size when you flower. Based on that, its up to you when to flower.

Can somebody telll me how to position my seed in the rockwall after it has sprouted thanks.
Root facing down.

Once again, your help is most appreciated. One of my plants has finally poked up and cot's are extended :D. Still waiting for the other, but I have high hopes.

I google searched the Lucas method and it came back with this from grasscity. It is basically a method of using the GH Flora "Grow, Micro, Bloom" series, but you do not use the "Grow" part. I've copied the instructions below, sorry for the length, but it does give details.

Lucas Formula

General Hydroponics Flora Series Feeding Strategy - Lucas Formula

G-M-B (Grow-Micro-Bloom)
0-5-10 - For Vegetative cycle (18/6)
0-8-16 - For Flowering cycle (12/12)

The numbers above indicate the number of milliliters (ml) of Flora Grow, Micro or Bloom formulas that I use in one gallon (US Liquid) of nutrients.

You will notice I dont use any of the Flora “Grow” formula, do not need to, the Flora "Micro" provides plenty of Nitrogen.

There are two ways to work with this formula:

1. Top off the reservoir daily using a pH corrected water solution as required to maintain full reservoir level. After adding back an amount of water equal to the amount of your reservoir capacity you should change the reservoir and put in fresh solution.

2. Top off the reservoir daily using a pH corrected 100% strength nutrient solution as required to maintain full reservoir level. Continue to use this nutrient solution without dumping the tank unless the PPM rises above acceptable levels.

Between vegetative and flowering cycles you should dump your nutrients, then flush (possibly with Clearex) to remove salt buildups, then change to the other feeding program. Always shake your GH nutrient bottles before using them!

For young plants, just transplanted into the hydro setup, give them 50% strength nutrient mix to prevent overfeeding them while their young. Gradually bring up the mix to full strength as they grow over the next few weeks or so.

The lucas formula is normally intended for use with RO or near 0 PPM water.

NOTE: The Lucas formula eliminates the need for Epsom salts to correct (Magnesium) Mg deficiencies in most normal feeding programs recommended by manufacturers. Cannabis needs a lot of Magnesium to thrive.

The Flora Micro is providing the Nitrogen and the Magnesium in the proper balance, thus there is no need for the Grow formula and little or no room under the maximum acceptable ppm limit of 1600 @ 0.7 conversion.

Calculated EC/TDS levels:

EC microsiemen:
0-4-8: 946 µS
0-5-10: 1184 µS
0-8-16: 1894 µS

TDS @ 0.5 conversion:
0-4-8 = 473 ppm
0-5-10 = 592 ppm
0-8-16 = 947 ppm

TDS @ 0.7 conversion:
0-4-8 = 663 ppm
0-5-10 = 829 ppm
0-8-16 = 1326 ppm

Addback Calculator - (For Advanced Users)

Say you were running the 0-8-16 formula, at 0.7 conversion with a 22 gallon res. When you first fill it up, your ppm will be around 1330.

Now you have been growing for a week, and some of the water has been taken up by the plants, some has evaporated, and now your res is at 947 ppm. You need to get your ppm from 947 to 1330. Here is the equation:

((target - current) / target) * 8 ml per gallon * res gallons = Flora Micro (ml) double this figure to get Flora Bloom (ml)

Example:

((1330 - 947) / 1330) * 8 * 22
(383 / 1330) * 8 * 22
0.3 * 8 * 22 = 53 ml Flora Micro

53 ml Flora Micro, double that and you get 106 ml Flora Bloom. So 53 ml Flora Micro and 106 ml Flora Bloom to add back to your 22 gallon res to get you from 947 to 1330.

hey man ive got a male plant and its starting to flower, does this decrease the yield or have any bad effects?
the plant is about 16 weeks old i think but is relatively small (about 30cm or 1 foot) and seems to be growing a cluster of flowers at the top.
a bit of advice would be appreciated
cheers lolzor:weed:

KILL IT. If youre sure its male, it serves no purpose to you. Kill it. It will pollenate your females. Kill it with great urgency if you have other females. Try not to let any pollen escape.

ok.. i really like this idea right here..

https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/6592-get-harvest-every-2-weeks.html

but i don't think i'm to that level of skill yet to be playing with hydro or aeroponics.. is there a setup like this one except for soil? i'm looking for the easiest setup to get a pound every month.. im thinking of having everything setup in grow tents.. any .02 is appreciated, thanks.
Yes, you can run a sea of green with soil. You can use pringles cans or red solo cups. This technique will not work with seeds, so make sure you have a good system for taking clones before you try this method. Seed grown plants simply wont stay small enough for this method to be effective.

Hey I still never got a response to my question.. How do I make a female only strain into a male?
You don't. You cannot change the sex of a plant (otherwise everyone would be turning all their males into females). You can stress a plant, which will make it turn into a hermaphrodite (hermie). This means you'll have a female with male parts (aka pollen). If youre trying to make seeds, this will do it.

Thank for the input,1 more, whats the best method of shipping?
I used the attitude with standard shipping and did not have an issue.
