It is a video game. My youngest son and grandsons watch videos of them mining gold and diamonds and building things.

Million followers stuff.

I think it is as dumb as roseanne bar but i am at the edge of boomer gem.

The average player is in the league too short a time to make striking for money make sense. They gave away money in the last contract to get less practice time. Practice is were most injuries take place. They want to get paid for a few years, then take their bad knees and hobble off into the sunset.

What I'd like to see is mass demonstration where everybody defies the rule by taking a knee and triggers team fines. Teams can fine players which would then be contested. Where I hope this goes is some teams are good about paying the fine and protecting the players while some don't. Imagine if players refused to play for the shitty ones and favored good teams like the Jets. I hope it all blows up in Roger Gooddell's face.

A short primer on NFL cash flow. Owners and players split all revenue. {the players gave up a couple three % in the latest contract to get less practice time and other safety related considerations} This includes beer, hotdogs, t-shirts, ball caps, ticket sales, and the biggie, TV money. For now the TV money is locked in. It is up to the networks to make back what they pay to cover the games. So for now, the only ones suffering from the lower ratings is the networks. But the NFL is running scared. TV numbers and ticket sales are going down.

I liked Scott Van Pelts take on this. He said it is fantasy football, not the NA kneeling that is driving the numbers down. The fact is most "fans" gamble on fantasy these days instead of games. So they will watch the NFL channel Sunday afternoons instead of the games. Stand alone games {Sunday and Monday Night Football} still have the highest ratings for their networks {NBC and ESPN} of all shows.

But the point that really seals it is the numbers for Nascar are taking a real nose dive. And they are the flaggiest mofos in town. Losing Jr and Jeff Gordon is what is driving the numbers there. And the fact most folks don't have 4 hours to spare every Sunday.

You called me out right. On the field, the word good and Jets don't belong together.

What I meant by good teams like the Jets is they abstained from voting and have come out to tell its players that they will pay the fine and they have no issues with players taking the knee during the anthem. San Francisco has already done the same. I'm guessing Seattle won't pass fines onto players either.

Houston and Washington are rabidly set against player protests. Draftees could say I'm not signing, trade me. Free agents are free to go to whichever team they please. I would very much enjoy it if those teams lost out to quality personnel because of their archaic attitude toward players. It's a long shot, I know. Also only the best players could call the team's bluff and win. Still, there is nothing that can stop Draftees and free agents from telling hostile teams to fuck off.

No, it was a political statement by old white men who don't understand the younger people in today's work force. Their choices will make things worse, not better. The best thing they could have done is negotiate with the players union and get an agreement with them first.

Well the orange menace just rescinded the invitation to the White House to the Philadelphia Eagles as he could not get their unanimous agreement to stand during the anthem with their hands over their hearts.

Instead, Trump invited Eagles fans to listen to the US Marine band play the Star Spangled Banner.

Come fall i am still watching and I am still betting my 10 bucks a week. Football is great entertainment. I actually liked the kneeling thing. I was impressed with their resolve. But it is what it is. The money engine will keep firing. Printing fat stacks for players and owners and everyone with a piece of it so I can cook a fat crock of soup or chilli for 6 hours on a Sunday.

I am not even sorry

My kid has played for 4 years and he is bantam and awesome. We LOVE it. And I am saddened that Kapernick didn't get to play because of the BS. And by BS I mean trump calling the owners on the batphone to say ZONG and ZOWIE and KERPOW
