been making my own seeds for a while
they were S1's, fancy name for hermie
time to try a real cross, nirvana PPP x nirvana Cali-O
the PPP was remarkable for its anxiety soothing properties
mom/dad first 2 pics, offspring is the last
roughly the same point in veg, mom vegged like an indica possessed
strong ressemblance to dad? or more likely a mix of traits

20 days of growing and 2 days of flower, good deal so far
very healthy looking, maybe seeing some hybrid vigor
first plant i've had in a while with smell
skunky/citrus odor, looking like a strong contribtion from the Cali-O father

9 days of flower, pretty cool offspring, think i see pistils!
got the skunky/citrus odor, very much a cali-o odor
but also has the compactness of the PPP mom
which is a little disappointing, hoping i might get more sativa from that side
may yet work out, when the bud is cut i will know for sure

2+ weeks of the flower, pretty good deal, a female
the cali-o father is showing strongly here
at least for plant shape, and sativa looking leaves up high
and the smell, which i guess is mostly skunk, but it's still early
the citrus trait would be nice to have been kept in the cross

39 inches tall, 15 1/2 inches wide, just enough for a small untrained hybrid
haven't outgrown the chamber yet, though a Northern Lights was very close

3 weeks of flower, and this could be a cross worth growing
the odor has changed, probably best described as lemon tree
almost too good to be true, some skunk if rubbed
and another sight for sore eyes, a skinny stem
sativa trait, much love for sativa traits

4 weeks, looking good, mostly
bud growth is fine, but some of the lower fans losing color
a little early for that, 6 weeks is better
feeding with alfalfa/molasses tea, should be enough of nitrogen
bud odor is crazy good, sweet lemon, but when rubbed very strong diesel mixed in?

5 weeks flower, mostly good, but fungus gnats crashed the party
damn! new soil, pasteurized in an oven like usual
which normally does a great job on these things
soil was denser, maybe it didn't get heated properly to the core
that said, bud is still looking good
fan leaves color draining fast though, too fast for my tastes
could be a very fast ripener? could always reveg/clone

week 6, and things are moving right along, good but not great
fans are really losing color quick, that doesn't seem perfect
bud is doing well, the PPP mother was an early ripener
pistils are turning, that's a mom trait i think
foliage leaning towards cali-o father, and then there's the odor
it has acquired a rank sweetness, very heavy sweet odor when touched
dutch genetics are known for sweet odors/taste, guess that adds up

^^^ thanks for that, i'm half bummed because i experimented with a new soil that seems to have bit me
my yields will be OK, but i think they could have been quite a bit better

better is always good. you never know if something is going to work till you try, and if you never tried then you`ll never know.lol looks like the cross is a keeper for sure.

^^^ yeah, every so often you need to try something new
7 weeks, some traits are clear at this point
the buds are sloppy/sticky, just like mom
the PPP mother was the most resinous plant i've seen
and it's a short, that too is like mom
yield won't be close to the PPP though, fungus gnats didn't help
Cali-O wasn't a huge yielder, gnats or genetics? undecided
now to the odor, and that's the most interesting of all
intensely sweet but weedy smell if touched, more perfumey if not
Cali-O had a hand in that part i think

8 1/2 weeks, was thinking about cutting
trichome check showed clear trichomes as far as the eye can see
a little surprised, but the soil/gnats - not so good
fans normally don't get drained this fast, though the bud is looking good
smell is potent, stinker pheno, lemon/skunk/fuel oil with weed tossed in

i`m getting ready to try and crack some old crosses i did with the ae77, not even sure they`ll germ just due to their age. here`s a couple of shots of et mastodon. their at 4 weeks so they have a ways to go, but they are frosting up nicely.

^^^ yes they are, looking quite nice
ae77 cross is a good sounding cross, would like to get my paws on ae77
clones will have to wait until legality comes to NY, or federal legal, which would be even better

i got it when it was going around og/cw in the way back. seeing yours made want to break them and give `em a shot and see what happens. the taste was just out of this world, it just lacked the buzz and tolerance build up was just bad. i got a few different crosses 1 with apollo11 and 1 with durban thai high flyer. i haven`t seen the cut around in a long time, but i don`t get around much anymore. seems like everything is og or nothing these days. myself i still love home made crosses, they put the fun in the hobby. you never know till you grow them out and see for yourself. that seems to be the norm these days except you pay 150 bucks for someone else`s crosses.
those in the pics was my first store bought female seeds, i had to see what its all about. so far i like them but i don`t see much of the bubba in them, more of the master kush. they might fit right into your setup they grow str8 up. i topped them once before flowering and it evened out the canopy very nicely. not much on stretch not real branchy either.

thanks for the ae77 info, that does sound like other comments on the 'older' cali-o that made the rounds years ago, a nice sativa like plant with great taste/odor
the nirvana cali-o seeds i got were at the end time, nirvana discontinued them within a year after that
it was good, but not so much sativa, more of an indica dom hybrid
flavor/odor were there, buzz was actually quite solid, just not quite as much sativa as i was hoping for

from the look of the cross you hit a good one. the ppp is one that i have missed out on, i usually like plants that shape, the big chunky skunk type flowers.
i do have a question about your setup, how hard it to get to your plant. also for those gnats you can put some cider vinegar out and it attracts them to their death.
