There seems to be two theories about Nirvana. The first one is some likes Nirvana’s gear and claim to receive good service.
I subscribe to the other theory. That one being for the life of me I am incapable of understanding how such a shoddily run business could have ever survived for as long as it has let alone created some sort of a following.
I have been a member of many boards like this ever since the Internet first hit my town and over all the years I have never seen/read so many complaints about a breeder/seedbank (as is the case this time) as I have about Nirvana.
I have heard so many horror stories about Nirvana, including one of someone who never received his order and if I remember right there never was a tracking number, but I might be wrong on that part, but the order was not stopped by Customs since no dreaded letter ever arrived, so the guy thought Nirvana owed him some beans. In what was a decent not nasty email he requested his beans be sent. The reply was Nirvana had his personal information and if he did not drop it they would rat him out to his local authorities.
Another problem with Nirvana is lack of quality control. They have people, basically outside labor, growing plants to make beans to sell. Not every grower is equally adept so there is often variations in quality of beans. In many cases people were positive that they received a different strain of bean(s) than ordered. It might be that one or some of the actual seed growers might from time to time add a handful of beans of some type he is paid less for to a pile he will be paid more for increasing his profit … and leaving people who ordered one thing receiving something very different. Maybe Nirvana is just not very proficient at packaging or possibly if come time to fill an order if they are out of a strain possibly they take it upon themselves to substitute whatever they want to use and you can either live with it or you can just live with it because that is all you are getting.
Like with any purveyor of similar goods I have seen untold numbers of threads started over the years who is soiling themselves over a bean order that is a day or three later than expected …. and then there would follow a day or two of calling the business names that would make a drunk Marine blush the beans arrived safe and sound one or two days later.
While I am positive that you made no error in the counting of shipment days at times many complaints I read were actually baseless. All such businesses say ‘X’ to ‘Y’ working days for international delivery, or whatever type shipment you might prefer to think about. Some people seem to miss at least part of what that means. If international you not only have the number of actual work days for the seller but also for the Postal Services. They tend to get off of work on holidays. Different nations have holidays on different days of the year.
If timed correctly, or better phrased, if an unfortunately timed order is placed you can begin losing a weekend, or half of it anyway depending on what time of day the order is processed. Then you could even run into the rare situation where two national holidays were celebrated in two different nations one right after the other … and the unfortunately timed order gets caught up right in the middle of the extended do nothing time.
It was my first order placed with Attitude Seeds and for a day or two I was really wondering. Then by chance I put two and two together and added the time for the missed portion of the weekend due to timing and then the holidays where in first one and then the other no one worked, and my beans arrived on the date that would be the maximum length date Attitude said they would deliver by, meaning that they did what they said when you factored in all the often times not thought of things, like national holidays and stuff.
Many seedbanks are slammed for people over delivery when once they place the package in the hands of the local Postal Service it is out of their hands time-wise. The rest is up to people who do not work for the seedbank so if an order is mailed promptly, see tracking number info, if an order arrives slow or even a fair bit late it is not the fault of whichever seedbank shipped the order. The additional length of time normally is the fault of the various Postal Services and possibly Customs Departments orders may pass through but not the seedbank ….. that is usually …. and that is why you always get an electronic receipt and a verification of shipment and of course a tracking number. That way you know who is actually to blame for a slow delivery or a no delivery without a formal letter explaining missing questionable items that were taken home by the guy who found them, after all, finders keepers, …. I mean the illicit substances found were legally confiscated by the government and will be destroyed ….. by someone smoking the crop most likely.
You on the other hand might receive your beans safe and sound in tomorrow’s mail. Let’s all hope so. If not, don’t give up and freak. Wait a while and if then there is still nothing go easy and things would be more likely to work out in your favor.
