Nirvana under CMH and HPS

I'm growing Nirvana AK-48 (link) and Master Kush (link) in unamended Sunshine Advanced #4 (link). They're growing under a 400-watt Phillips Mastercolor Retro-White bulb, which is currently running 24 hours a day.

The tent looks like this:

There's a bucket with added airstone to help raise the humidity to around 50%RH. The hood doesn't have the glass installed because the CMH bulb isn't all that hot; that's also why the ducting isn't completely attached to the hood. My plan is to get a Growzilla hood in the next week or 2. That way, I can run the 400-watt CMH and 600-watt HPS at the same time with reasonable temperatures. I also have a CO2 tank and regulator, but I'm not sure I'm ready to use that for this grow...probably need an AC unit before it's feasible.

Here are the nutrients, etc.:

I use the GH Flora series with Floralicious Plus. I add Botanicare CalMag+ to every feeding. There's a bottle of GenOrganic CalMag in the picture...I don't really recommend it; Botanicare works faster and doesn't affect pH as much. I use the Hygrozyme to clean airstones and whatnot. I'll also mix a bit in my nutrient solution if needed. There's a cheap PPM meter and pH meter and some pH up and down in the picture too. I use the mycorrhizae when repotting and mixed into the soil. The rooting powder is for cloning, but this particular grow is all seed.

Here are the plants at week one (more or less):

On the left are the Master Kush seedlings. On the right are the AK-48 seedlings. I had a couple leftover Barney's Farm Tangerine Dream seeds that never broke soil...no big deal, that wasn't a great strain for me anyway. Of the 8 seedlings, I plan to put the prettiest 4 females in 5-gallon Smart Pots. If I have a nice enough male, I'll likely grow it out in another room to pollinate a couple branches.

They're not really getting nutrients yet. I mixed a quarter teaspoon (1.25ml) each of micro, grow, and bloom into 5 gallons of water to get the pH right and stable when I first watered the medium and planted the sprouts. They should get their first light feeding in just a few days.

Questions and comments may be sporadically answered, but I'll do my best to update weekly.

It seems the journal I started was a casualty of the recent site hack. So here's an update to this post.

It's now week 3 of flower.

The 2 in back are Master Kush. The're both in the same environment, soil, nutrients, etc; but one looks spindly and yellowed and the other is ok. The AK-48 (front right) is the healthiest of the bunch. The Tangerine Dream is starting to show a little promise. Altogether, it's about 6 weeks since the seeds popped.

I should mention that I'm no longer using the GH nutrients mentioned in the first post. I switched over to Dyna-Gro a couple weeks ago. So far, so good. I'm currently using Pro-tekt and Grow every time I water and Mag Pro every few feedings. It's a lot less mixing than with the previous system. And the Dyna-Gro pH is stable...mix up a bucket of nutrients and the pH is the same the next day (just a bucket of nutrients sitting there, not in a hydro system).
