150 watt light, 3 weeks in veg. Coming up on 7 1/2 weeks flower. Rain water used, Fox Farms Organic Bloom Nutes on a very low feed schedule.
Fairly sure there was a day where my timer had broke and the light was on for about 16 hours instead of 12, that was at week 5.
Sad but true.
I would say about 50~65% of the hairs are brown and receding. Bud is extreammmmly dense at about 1 3/4 inches wide.
I'm new and have no idea what to expect as far as size of the calyxes when there done swelling , how big the bud is gong to get.
I have a microscope but its fairly hard for me to get a good look without cutting off a calyx. ( I know from reading the trichomes on the leaves mature faster and isn't a factual data so I don't want to go by that. )
A few things I'm looking to hear from the people of the best forum,
How big in diameter is an average when there ready, for sativa, indica and hybrid?
Depending on I/S/Hybrid, what should the trichomes look as far as percentages? Clear~Cloudy~Amber ratio.
Are there any other signs that will help me figure out when the bud is harvest able other then the trichomes/instinct?
How long In your opinion should I let the ICE go for?
Should I ( for a sat dom hybrid ) chop off the finished buds and let the lower lolipops finish or wait till every things done and risk the
the top colas going past the peak maturity range.

I don't normally recommend using anything but a microscope to be sure of a harvest. But since you asked for another way I wait until my hairs turn dark orange/red and typically my trics are ready at that point.

You let the whole plant orange over? Should there be a percentage of white~brown/red receding hairs? Or wait till there all curled back and coloured?

Sorry for the barrage of questions but I will become a proficient grower even if I have to keep learning to my dieing day.

All the pistils at the top should be orange and only 1-2mm the tips should be poking out of the buds. In the last few weeks when your plant is fully maturing, the buds will swell outward and engulf the pistils. You shouldn't be seeing many curly hairs all over the place. 3 weeks maybe.

this is a great way to explain how the pistils should look when a plant is RIPE
