So I know you dont base a harvest off of hairs but I was also told that when the hairs start to turn a brownish color that means its "degrading"
I still dont have my damn scope/lens and am pretty much eye balling the plant. I have noticed that the trichs have gotten much whiter, not so clear.
I'm at the home stretch and dont wanna fuck up and harvest to late or early but my gut says right now is the best time.....any input RIU?

When trichs go amber they are degrading. Pistils go brown and retract as ripening nears. Really need a scope..

Yea as stated by coho the trics are what matter. Hairs can be a sign to check with a scope but never a reason to harvest.

thx coho. i have been fighting the urge to harvest lol. The entire buds are now purple and getting darker. I believe im on day 47....i just dont have any money for a lens, just dropped $1200 on my new apartment....
I'd say majority of the trichs are milky now. Was clear and not so noticeable days ago, now the buds have a brighter shimmer from the trichs, definalty more visable though....
i figured to play it safe give it a couple more days

When all of the hairs have retracted back into the calyx's then maybe degrading might be coming, but not when they first turn brown. Try watching the hairs that have already turned brown, they will eventually disappear back into the base they come out of.

so the ones that turn brown will recede as well meaning degrading thc right?
The pistils have nothing to do with THC.

When amber trichomes appear they signal the degradation of THC into CBN, which means a loss of about 90% potency (some researchers say 260% loss).

You need to take all the things into account; pistils receding, calyxes swelling, trichomes turning amber.

You want to get as close to 100% cloudy trichs as possible while maintaining nice and swollen calyxes.

The whole thing of % trics amber to decide harvest time is stupid! My strains, the ones I still do almost never go amber to any real degree. Hairs go orange/red and still no amber much. After the normal bloom days of around 58 they are done amber or no amber. U need to learn your strain and well have grown 16 in my time. The best imho and experience don't show ready by the amberness of the trics! Can u not look at the swollen calyxis or however it is spelled, I never paid attention to that spelling. those will tell u when they are ready. Hairs might be 100% red and still trics less than 30% or even lower amber. So learn to see the swell and the time to harvest for your strain is online so look it up and you will be golden.
