I read the following and nobody seemed to dispute it. It this accurate information? Mainly, should I be turning my fans off during the night cycle?

"I use 11/13 myself after 2 weeks of 12/12, this allows the plant to finish on its finishing date. like grim said during the dark period the plant releases hormone whick promotes flower growth, this one is the reasons ur turn ur fans off during the dark. also if i find if u leave ur plants in the dark for the last 3/5 days before cutting the will bud out like mad is a last dying act to produce seed."

Rubbish .

Plants utilize CO2 during day ( air moving ) and metabolizes in the dark ( releasing oxygen) with air STILL being moved.

Do plants outside in the dark stop getting recirculating air ?

You need to keep air moving to also help with humidity and mold .

Reading the context of that quote, it appears to be that they are discussing the dark period after flowering and before harvesting. They're saying to leave fans off during the 48 hour dark period, and or hanging.

I could be reading that wrong, but if that's not what they're saying... it does not sound like a good idea.

The ONLY benefit to leaving in dark for a couple days is that you can PULL PLANT FOR HARVEST at “ any “ time you are ready since it is not in photosynthesis.

Example :

You gotta go to work next day ... plants in dark ... you come home later and can begin harvesting them when you are ready to do so.

What you WILL notice is that as with all flowering plants , their fragrance is much more pronounced in the dark.

As I thought, Just wanted to make sure I wasnt missing something lol. I keep 1 small fan on each plant underside, a bigger oscilating fan on the canapy, and my exhaust fan.. I have had fans on them since they sprouted

The context of the article was what do our plants actually do during the dark periods. Is there any benefit to a dark cycle at all during veg and what exactly are they doing for that 12 hours of dark during flower... it was a good read, just question some of their logic and figured I would ask my trusted smokers over here

My fans always run, always have. And if its convenient I'll do a couple day dark period and I believe it does help a small amount, but not so much that I go out of my way to do it.

@BigHornBuds what say you on the fans?

I've noticed that, from what I have read is because the buds develop more terpenes at during the darkness period. They develop them during the day as well but they get evaporated by light.
