No fresh air intake.

So I got a 300 Sq. Ft. (10,000 BTU) 1 hose AC unit for my veg room (90 Sq. Ft.). I'm exhausting out of the room to the attic, turned off my inline fan/filter (just sucks out AC), and cut off the hose and capped my fresh air intake from an outside source (80-100 degree air). My dad called to ask me how everything was going and i told him what's going on with room now and he talked to me about negative pressure which I totally understand. He thinks that the house could collapse (just over exaggerating), like it's creating a black hole or something .Lmao.
So anyway, I've read that negative pressure isn't a big deal, but as far as being correct goes, will it burn it up my AC or anything. My dad wants to know where I'm getting this "new" air for the AC unit to blow out. I did tell him that my room is pretty much sealed ( I caulked taped the shit out of it and it truly is hard to shut the door in there), so does that mean that it isn't? As far as C02 goes for the ladies (beacuase of no fresh air) I got
Exhale C02 Bag.jpg
and everything seems to be peachy. Do you guys think my rooms ok? I can be in there for awhile and I feel ok. Maybe shutting off my exhaust makes the AC pull air from there? I have more pics in my journal if you want more pics of the room.

What exactly are you exhausting?

The AC needs some sort of intake doesnt it?

I would listen to your dad. Its nice that he is cool with what you are doing and it sounds like he knows a little bit.

I would think that AC needs air to move and make it work properly. That makes sense. We've all seen the sealed grow rooms with no air intake, with C02. Is that what's running through the ac units (C02)? As of right now everything seems OK, but it doesn't seem right. Any more input?

your ac unit is exhausting your grow room air, you have a 1 hose unit, so it sucks air from your grow room across the condenser and out the exhaust hose, you should have gotten a 2 hose unit so you could hook up an intake and exhaust so all the air and co2 is staying in your room. with the 1 hose unit is pulling it all out, that is also causing the negative pressure in the room, thus your now sucking in air from every single crevasse and crack in the attic because the air has to come from some where, under an extreme neg pressure it will cave it in. not likely to happen in your case, but your sucking in hot air because of the neg pressure of the a/c unit. A 2 hose unit will fix all of this.

Understood. Thanks for the info Burn. i just duct in my fresh air close to my AC until I come up with something else. +rep

holy shit burnride is right on it I had a single hose unit running and a 2 hose as a backup just swapped them out and now co2 is holding steady and my house ac isn't running all the fuckin time. I am using the hood exhaust as an intake for the ac and exhausting outside with the hot air. Probably just save me a couple hundered a month. Nice work man. Hope this helps you too lockness.

Yup. Burn is totally correct. +rep. The 2 hose units are a little more expensive but I'm sure they are well worth it. I'd rush out and get one if I was running Co2, but this is in my Veg room and my first grow. I'll just vent in fresh air for now and will be sure to upgrade before the 90 days return is up and this single hose :p
