no smell or flavor

ive started growing cindy 99 indoors. theyre dr greenthumb seeds. the plants seem healthy and of the last 2 i harvested i got a little over 6 oz.cured. the problem is that after it starts to dry it loses the fruity smell.after its fully cured it smells more like hay than anything and has no flavor when smoked.its very smooth and knocks your block off after a few hits but after reading grow reports on this strain it should have alot of fruitiness to the aroma and flavor. Im using ocean forest soil and flora nova nutes. I have friends that have been growing for a long time and they cant figure this one out. Im slowly reducing the nutes about 6 weeks into flowering and going straight r.o. water the last 2 weeks. I also know someone else with this same problem, but with 5 different strains and they all have no smell. I figured id better ask the expert panel on this one. Any suggestions or advice..Im all ears! Im fairly new to the indoor growing thing so any advice will help. I have a 600 watt hps and a magnumxxl hood..i know someone will ask what i have for lighting.PPms are a 1000 max and my i try to keep the ph between 6.2 and 6.5.

the humidity in my house is between 40 and 50 percent. took almost 3 weeks to dry the last batch. my friend has been growing for 20+ years and he tried to cure some and got the same results..

Its just frustrating because the flowering room smells like starburst candy when you go into it and the finished stuff just doesnt have that. grrr!

I have a similar problem myself. I grew two SLH plants a few weeks apart. The first one was FANTASTIC in taste, smell and potency. The second one is truly a "low grade" product. I'm boggled haha.

hey hydrotech..do ya think its just a characteristic of this strain? ive read alot of reports on it of hardly any odor. thats fine but the flavor is whats really bugging me. Dr Gruber did a grow report on the same seeds and said it was spectacular.Id love to know what he did that im not.

the first 2 were from the seeds. im flowering clones from them now. the clones seem to not have the strange yellowing the originals had. maybe the clones will be the shit? ill find out in a couple of weeks. the second 2 seeds i sprouted were total shit! now sprouting the rest of the seeds and gonna see what i have. but i still think im not doing something right but cant figure it out.

He may be a heavy feeder like me,could be his nutes themselves.Organic?Nothing like Bat shit to make a strain stand out.If your getting a green taste ya know that ya didnt cut and cure it right.Could be a number of things. Is the weight worth another try?If not shitcan em.

i started using bird guano with these two im flowering right now. thought they were having a nitro problem and the guano took care of it. taking it easy with it..dont wanna smoke bird shit! some of the remnants of my first harvest have been in jars for a month and a half and are starting to smell quite nice. maybe i just need to cure it longer. it isnt a really stinky strain like skunk or diesal so maybe im overreacting about it.
