No stretching issue

Hey there

First time using my 476w quantum LED fixture vs old 400w HPS and seem to have an issue with plant not stretching.

Right now my light is running at about 90% strength and is about 40 inches from the top of the plants. Recommended is 24inches but i'm assuming that is more for flower. My plants are about 2 weeks from seed (the one tied is about 3 weeks from seed).
Still I would think 40 inches is enough height they would stretch a bit but they seem to growing super tight internodes and not sure why.

Temps were high at first but i'm got them down to tops 82F and during dark 70F. For the first week I had them 24 hours under CFL, then put them in the tent and for the past week they've been 18 hours on 6 hours off with the LED.

should I just be more patient and they'll eventually stretch or do LED's normally produce shorter plants?

Thanks

Genetics play a big role here, most of it in fact......flower light schedule is when stretch should be more significant.

Spd of your light source can have some effects, positive or negative.

Edit....... curse you Oxford comma

"Recommended is 24inches"
QB's and strips can get pretty close without burning your plants. I've had flower grow into my strips and not have an issue.

Thats true, as long as I have a fan on the lights its mostly the drivers that give off the heat. Thats pretty surprising I read they can burn the tops easily but I guess it depends on the plant.

With leds, the type of spread makes a big difference. I bet the older single cob style one got pretty hot. QB's are a lot more spread out, and strips, even more so.
