Noise control advice

Hello all,
so i recently have found a new location which will support this amazing hobby of mine but the issue is that it has to be kept upstairs due to the setup the noise coming out of the window is not a problem all i did was extend the ducting and things are going a lot better, Although, the outside of the door sounds like the outside of the gates of hell and there is a tornado of nonsense going on. Basically my question is this how do i minimize the amount of noise coming from the door. (my next step is to find card board boxes to put my fans in the stuff clothing around it hoping that will muffle the sounds). So if anyone has any other ideas to help a guy out that would be greatly appreciated. thanks for your time gents and or ladies :joint::mrgreen:.


Also i have my window covered with cardboard (cannot see from outside) and it is not bowing out and i constantly have to retape it any advice on window coverage?

yes re do everything and when starting a thread and asking for help means you need to make sense.. so it would help if you show pics or make it to where people will understand what your talking about.. if you have a fan what type is it, box,inline ,turbo. see each one will need a different set up.. EXPLAIN whats gong on.. were not there and cant see what you do. hope we can help but you need to help us help you...

I staple thick blankets to the window trim in my grow room. There is no way to get around noise... Add more ducting them your losing more cfm of the fan.. You need something to muffle it.. I use a tv.. I keep a tv on at all times 24/7 and I can't hear anything. I can't tell anything else because idk the size of your setup etc..

The cardboard box stuffed with clothing will help for sure. As far as the door goes...you can hang a carpet on it to help minimize sound penetration and vibration. You can also line the door frame with some felt padding so the door rests on the felt and not on the frame.

Is it air making the noise or is it the fan motor?

If it is air "whooshing", a duct muffler helps a lot. They are available at grow shops or easy to DIY.

As far as your cardboard goes, use something that will not absorb water. Moisture (probably caused by temp differential) is what's bowing it out. It will also provide mold and mildew an easy place to start. There's a product called Gator Board that you can get at an art store. Like corrugated cardboard but made of plastic. You should be able to find a cheaper solution, but make sure it won't absorb water.
