Noob help needed!!! This is my first op and I'm lost.

So as you guys guessed, I'm new to this. Brand new. I once had an outdoor op [failed] and it was too risky. I want to have an indoor grow.

I don't want to grow dirt bud, I want to grow stuff that will make people's mouths water. 1 hitter quitter.

My space is pretty limited, as I don't want anyone to know it's happening (especially my greedy roommates!). I was considering an attic grow, but that seems like it would be pretty damn obvious if anyone went up there, but there's lots of space. Next idea is a closet grow, only thing is my closet is only 3.5' deep.

Seeing as it is so late in the year, this would mostly be a winter grow. If I did it in my closet, no problem with temps.

If I do it in the attic and ran the lights at night, would that probably keep the plants warm enough? Typical winter barely touches 30F.

I want major yield! I would like to try to get 10 plants in the larger tent or 8 in the smaller. These are the strains I'm considering:

You won't like this answer, but I'd advise to you think twice about trying to hide it from someone in the same household. Get them on the same page or think about somewhere else. If not can the idea brotha.

I have fans that move the air, a custom double carbon filter box I made that is rated for at least ten times my space (6.5 x 3 x 4,) two kinds of Ona, and herbs galore planted around my house and man let me tell ya, there are always going to be anomalies.

For instance, it's been raining here for days, causing the humidity to shoot, making my filters less efficient. Long story short my wife informed that I needed to make some temporary adjustments because she could smell it.

I have one plant that is done and a few more halfway behind her. Nothing is even cut yet. I'll have to wait until it dries up around this place.

Just plain won't work under required circumstances.

10 plants of mouth watering bud grown in a small closet without your mates noticing a thing? Dreaming. 1 or 2 small plants grown to the best of your ability inside a Pc case. Achievable.

Well guys if they knew it wouldn't be the end of the world. By room mates I mean gf (of course she'd know) and sister. The only reason I didn't want them to know is so it could be a nice surprise.

Do it in your closet, add stealth to it. Don't tell anybody at all if you can help it. Don't let the smell get crazy. I grew in a closet that was like 4' x 2' and it was fine. I forget it I told my roomates but honestly, they're just going to tell people. --- If your roomies are going to get mad and turn you over if they learn you're growing, then you shouldn't be growing at all. Good luck!

One... Dirt grows can make some DAMN good weed, and with less effort/maintenance than hydro. Its all in genetics and nutrients.

That being said, getting a massive yield of dank ass weed, in a small discrete op even ppl living in the house won't notice, is a pipe dream. Get some good locks and a webcam just in case, and all housemates together beat the shit out of anyone caught stealing the weed.

Smell will be the biggest problem, but to filter the smell means a good in line fan, thats noisy, someones gonna notice.

hydro or dirt, thats a lot of water, someones gonna notice.

Daily care, sometimes for hours if pruning harvesting, etc. someone is gonna notice man!!

I don't' think anyone will notice you packing dirt and water to your bedroom.

First of all there is trouble awaiting for you to ruin your reputation if you have a good one. To be a grower no human being on earth can know what your doing first and foremost. The odds are against you. You have ro invest in the grow project which requires your loyalty, time, affection, attention, care, and money. You have to deal with bright lights. You have to deal with an increase of electric bill. You have to control your humidity and temperature specially in a attic. I can name about 15 more concerns. The only thing that might work: is if all your roomates were loyal and spiritually mature about life in every aspect of it and have to have some underground experience. Growing is not a play thing you just do. You have to be passionate about it which youd have to really get involved abd get know "her". But the truth is if you play your cards wrong about what youre intreagued to do than you risk the chance of being exposed. Criminal blemishes of a record. Popularity and image reduction etc. Be wise about life.

Even if all of yall chipped in on necessities you still take tge risk of getting caught and some one going to write a love letter. A poem.

Hey noob, if you grow it in your attic and the temp is 30 degrees your lights will cause your house to stick out when its the only one without snow...

Sorry the other guys are right, who ever you live with will find out, thats why I stopped, made it six months into marriage and when she found out she said hell no. I have to buy till our laws change.

If you get your roomies on board go with the closet, and trust me, ive used flir (military), spread the heat all the way through the house except the attic in winter.

I was gonna say "you can pull it off if you're clever and careful..."

But then i remembered you said you're living with a girlfriend. I just don't see how you'll pull it off (and if she's not "the one," you'll be giving her an 'ace in the hole' to use against you when things go south; i've never met a girl i could trust that much, who wasn't family).

If you were in a situation where you could close your door and spend time alone without anyone thinking that's weird, you could pull it off. But with a gf in the same dwelling... unless she's not very smart and/or doesn't care if you disappear for a while, she's gonna either figure it out, or get suspicious and confront you; maybe walk right in while you're face-deep in plants, stinkin' up the whole room. And then you'll have that whole mess to deal with. lol.

We only live once. Try to do the things that matter to you, before you're not here anymore. If that means spending months persuading your housemates, or even trying to have a secret grow... then that's the hand you're dealt, and it's up to you to know... when to hold 'em, when to fold 'em, when to walk away, and when to run. Maybe this is one of those times you fold and walk away before losing everything. Hard to bluff when everyone at the table knows your hand won't beat theirs.

This is the world we live in. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do; sometimes you gotta not.

Or you bluff like hell and let it ride, and hope it works out, while realizing each deal could be your last.

Only you can decide if it's worth it.

I would say, from what you describe, a secret grow would be ill-advised.

Your gf stays out of your closet?! Ya right id go the closet rout. Ive seen attic grows and they suck. Climbing up in there is such a bitch, and then carrying water up every other day along with supplies and even checking in on them is a pain. Destroying ceilings from water, black mold.....oh ya, not fun.
My advice to you is to start reading up on LST and SCROG. There is some really nice screened grows in the RIU archives that will give you great insight into how to maximize your lights fullest potential no mater what type of light you are using for smaller spaces. The biggest thing you can do to maximize your bag weight is read.

All those days that you spend waiting won't come back to you. Do what you want. If I were you, I'd kick everyone to the curb, and replace them with plants.
