Noob needing Nute + advice on 1g/W rule

hey, just starting up and i have read through the threads but there are too many contradicting answers!

Basically im looking for nutrients for veg and bloom. what do you recommend?

Also, the 1 gram per watt rule of thumb.. is it 1g per watt per plant? say i have a 250w hps and 4 plants, would i be expecting 250g or 1kg? i know this is only a general rule and strain dependent, just a curious thought :)

Look forward to your opinions!
Thanks in advance

it refers to getting roughly 1 gram per watt of light energy invested into the grow. for instance, a perfectly executed 1000w HPS grow would aim to, at absolute optimum, optain 1000 grams of dried bud at the end of flowering

i personally like a mix of blood/bone meal, mexican and indonesian bat guanos, dolomitic and calcitic limestone, mixed into a blend of peat (or coco coir), perlite and horticultural vermiculite

but don't breath the vermiculite dust

a perfectly executed 1000w HPS grow would aim to, at absolute optimum, optain 1000 grams

Thats where im getting stuck, the overall yield depends on how many plants as well doesnt it? how does that affect the rule?

As for nutes.. i was thinking more along the lines of liquid types :)

Thanks for replying so fast!

^This, 1 gram per watt is usually only achieved by vet growers who have all their variables dialed in.

I think jorge has a video up where he shows how light emanates from the bulb. Overall yield depends on pot size, strain, soil(and by some extension nutrients) and lights. You just can't grow pounds of weed without factoring in all the other stuff.

Mirrors,no, mylar and foil ok but not the best. A white surface reflects more light than all the others.

Depends what it is. A matte white paint finish will work for example, but the surface still needs to be reflective of course.

the number of plants is important in making sure you have a canopy that makes use of 100% of the light you make available. so it comes down to space

for a first grow, you should only be concerned about making it to harvest and much less so on how much your harvest will yield at the end of the day..
8 / 10 zips per 250 watt'er is a really great grow imo, and you'd be lucky to pull even half of that for the first few grows..

number of plants doesnt matter at all.. some people prefer to grow 1 or 2 huge plants, and others prefer to grow many smaller sized ones.. it's all up to you and what kind of plants you'd like to grow..

Ok, so i'll just focus on getting through the first few in one piece haha
I'm planning on Big Bomb - http://www.herbiesheadshop.com/bomb-big-bomb-feminised-seeds-2850
In the future, do you think it would be possible to get 200g from a 0.4m² area? I have a 250w hps
Also, what size containers would you recommend?
Thanks for you replies, it's helping loads!

ehh, i'm not really into any strains that have big bud in the cross as big bud is known for big yields of not so potent bud.. so having one of the parents by a big bud, it's going to bring potency down imo.. if you're only concerning yourself with weight and not potency, then big bomb would be a good strain..
as far as what size pots, the bigger the better imo.. the more room the roots have to grow in, the bigger the plants, therefore the bigger the yield will be at the end of the grow..
5 gallon containers are an awesome size.. :)
