Noob question

This could be a really stupid question but I'm going to ask it anyways. When I water my plants I always water it around the base of the plant and cover the soil but today when I was watering it I was wondering if I have been doing it wrong. Should I be using a watering pot so it covers the plant? (Like rain or a shower head). Any feedback would be great, thanks

no dont water the leaves,90% of people water directly at the base of the plant,or just slight around it.The other 10%(once the plant matures a bit) will water around the edge of the pot to make the roots grow/spred.

Moral of the story is...dont water the leaves they are like solar panels, water the roots

You can spray the leaves but it is only helpful when they are vegging(higher humidity). High humidity when flowering will cause bud rot.

That is a valid point.Alot of people have told me to not water the leaves, especially if you are using a nut mix with your water...Seems like a recipe for disaster for nut burn?
I had nut burn once....after a day at the clothing optional beach

you can spray the leaves with water mixed with nutes, it is called "foliar feeding"
(not during flower)

inside. you water the leafs with nutrients (burn) . chance mold . there is no reason to ever water a leaf. just soak the soil . you can mist plants if it I very dry in veg . never suggest misting plants in flower if its to dry humidity them spill water on the floor . nature is not the best for cannabis plants .

Advice well giving. I too just spill some water on the floor as spraying the leaves always has undesirable effects( staining, burning ect ect).
But it has been a very long time since I worried about humidity lol.

folier feeding is not done at full strength
and is common and desireable in certain circumstances. The way I understand it is that it's a very direct route.
Like anything there are guidlines.

I didn't read the whole thread so if I ganged up on you Its not personal :)

In nature plants don't live in plastic buckets but at my house they do or they get the f**k out.

Water at the base of plant. Water slowly, and turn the plants while watering, to evenly distribute water. Stop when a little water starts to drain from bottom of the pot. Lift pot to check for full water weight. Do not water again, until pot has a chance to completely dry out and become light as a feather. Foil feeding is ok in vegging stage only.

Dont forget to break up the top soil.
I use my finger to push dirt in the gap where soil meets container as it shrinks
and pulls away from the container as it dries.
If you dont do this the water will simply run down that gap instead of fully penetrating the soil.

I do this then apply some water and give it time to disappear into the soil then I hit it again until I get some decent runoff.
Maybe an inch or more in the drain pan.

In between waterings I let it dry so only
15-30% MOISTURE remains.
I like the roots to seek water and food.

Your mileage may vary
