What is a good CBD strain? I need to read up on that. What I would like is the oil. I really don’t like the high thc because I’m such a light weight. I rarely smoke or vape. I only grow because I love to grow stuff, I give it away to certain people that truly appreciate it, or can not afford it. I’m not into selling.
I have one strain called Otto#1. A hemp strain developed in CO for high CBD up to 25% and less than 1% THC. Out of the half dozen seeds I had I only ended up with one female. I'm about to experiment with using colloidal silver to self her so I can use any pollen on a couple other strains I only have girls of. AK47 and Critical Mass.

I've got some branches off a BlueBerry male about to start dropping pollen sitting in a glass of water under a couple CFLs in the bedroom closet. Will dust another Otto with that.

Have a couple from seed that are the Otto x Cannatonic. One isn't bad and a decent yielder but the other is meh. Still have to make cocobudder out of all 3 from my last harvest to see how I like them for my arthritis and muscle cramps. Really bad in my hands with long trimming sessions. A buddy back east did the crosses and sent me beans a while back. Calls the cannatonic cross GoldFish. Also sent beans for that one crossed with (Cannatonic x Herijuana) but haven't sprouted any yet. Soon tho.

Found two more seeds for the GoldFish so they are getting sprouted first and hopefully get two boys tho one of each would be OK too. Thought I'd used up all those.

The better goldfish isn't bad for smoking but I want the better medicine in edibles. Take it in the evening and sleep like a baby waking up with way less joint pain that lasts all day. Not into getting all f'ed up anymore. Feel crappy when I do too much THC and I've mainly been growing sativas these last 17 years.

Buddy gave me some sleeper beans recently. [(NL x Purple Indica) x BubbleGum].

So many strains, so little time! :)

Need cheap lab tests so I can know for sure what I'm growing but how it works to fix what ails me is the real test for me.

Im growing a CBD Crew Shark at the moment. Its my first CBD grow.
https://howtogrowmarijuana.com/weed-strains/cbd-shark-weed-seeds/
I have that one on my "maybe" list but not enough CBD for my liking at maybe 6% of each in a 1:1 ratio when I prefer at least 2:1. The Sweet Skunk CBD that I bought from a compassion club in BC was the best medicine I've ever eaten and t was 12% CBD, 7% THC. I have a shitlload of Island Sweet Skunk x DJ Short's BlueBerry to grow out too. Likely some hermies so have to breed that trait out as I go but want to cross that with my Otto real bad.

Sitting here smoking some Blue Heaven before bed waiting for my cocobudder to kick in. :)

so many CBD strains to choose from these days. I ended up choosing the 1 to 1 as I think THC is great for pain relief. At 6% each it should work well in capsule form.

Did you end up watching the "meet the Breeders" vid in that other thread? Its a predominantly CBD breeder in that interview.

I so rarely watch any videos online. We have a slow wifi connection that makes watching them a lot more frustrating than entertaining or educational I just don't bother.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with a 1:1 and it does offer me some relief but a 2:1 or higher just works so much better for my condition. What works for one doesn't do squat for the next person tho. It's always been like that even with just stoner pot and one of the main reasons a lot of doctors a reluctant to sign for medical pot in Canada. Lack of consistency and gov't approved proof of efficacy. So called "men of science" can be as pig-headed as the religious right tho that crew claims proof where this is only faith. :)

How do you plan to make your cannabis caps? Without concentrating the essential oils it's hard to get effective doses in just a cap or two. I've tried caps and have a 50 cap Cap-M-Quik "00" capsule filler. I was having to take 4 or 5 caps at a time to make it work. slsanderson.com

For the last few years I've been cooking up my medicine in coconut oil with liquid sunflower lecithin added. I use a small crock pot with a variac so I can crank up the temp to 260F+ and decarb the pot in the oil so all the terps are captured and not lost like de-carbing in the oven before cooking in the oil. I just put a tsp or more of the oil on a cookie or in a smoothie or eat it off the spoon to get a dose. I weigh the pot and oil to make consistent doses usually 20:1 or 10:1. With high THC pot the 20:1 would get me nicely buzzed with 1tsp. 2tsps could be too much and I'd have to go to bed and sleep it off or have one of those edible highs that were not pleasant.

Easy to micro-dose with during the day too if you just want to take the edge off and not be really buzzed.

It's the water that melts the caps. Refrigerated might be OK but I'm not sure.

If you evep all the alcohol and water off then dissolve the oil in another oil like coconut, olive, peanut etc it would be fine.

I'm not sure at all about vegan caps so you might want to check those out tho they cost a lot more.

If it's something you're going to do for a log time find a place online to buy caps in bulk. Lady was moving her health food store up here and I talked her into selling me a 1lb bag of "00" caps for $80. I weighed a 100 of them and extrapolated for total weight and calculate that there was over 6000 caps in that bag. She repackaged in 250 cap bags and sold for $20+. $500 for that bag retail.

Here's one.

I've found CBD has it's uses for pain relief, but sometimes you need that "bit extra".

That's why I'd rather buy/grow something with a decent THC level and stick to my CBD vape fluid, then I can get the exact levels I need as the pain levels and type of pain changes so often.

It works for me anyway.

Are growing you own CBD strain/s? If so whats your methods for making and refilling? And what strains have you found to work the best overall?

Allot of what I read, and to be honest I have only done basic researching, mentions THC as being more effective and as I and my wife are very small users a small % should be ok. Key word is " should".. lol.

The whole medication seems to be educated guess work.

I have CBD vape juice but it doesn't seem to have the same effect as it does in edible form. Great for long drives. Seems to make me more aware of my surroundings and sharpen up the senses a bit. Miles just seem to disappear under the car.

It's the same with regular pot tho. The feeling is a lot different and longer lasting with edibles than inhaling it. Your liver alters it so it's a different form of the drug. I find if I take good doses of the cocobudder 3 days in a row I can skip a day or two and still feel pretty good. By the 3rd morning tho I'll wake up not so good.

I still toke in my pipe and bong a bit but just small single hitters. Lungs are pretty beat up and my rt. one has collapsed twice. Too many hot knifing sessions I guess. :)

That's the problem with any medication for pain relief, whether it's pharma or "herbal", everyone's needs are different, you can only find out what your personal needs are by experimenting and that includes the timing of taking whatever you are using.

I just buy the vape fluid, just now I'm on Sensi Seeds 50mg CBD vape fluid because I was able to get a load of it before the place I bought it was forced to stop selling it as it's technically illegal here, but it's not an issue to hop across the border to Holland and buy it there or find a supplier in Holland to ship it to me.

Have to say, on the pain side, Super Silver Haze worked wonders immediately. The CBD is good for inflammation, which I have a lot of thanks to the arthritis and enthesitis in my back, but the analgesic side isn't so good and when you have bones rubbing together alongside neurological pain thanks to the 3 banjacked disks I have then it has to be a combination of things as I've identified 6 different sorts of pain in the lumbar area alone, and when you find a way to reduce one then all that happens is a different one comes to the fore.

So I don't bother with CBD strains, just now I have a Snow White and a White Haze on the go, and when I eventually go through various strains I'll know which one works best for me. I prefer as high a THC as possible as then I can use less to get the effect I need, meaning it lasts longer as the idea is making it so I can function vaguely normally and not be completely spazzed out on the couch. I get the mix right then I have less pain, better mobility and more energy, and that's what matters.

Next step is in June, going to try and go official via MedCan over here, costs a bit to get on the programme but then you can get away with a bit more when you're prescribed medical marijuana by them, as the precedent was set when a judge decreed that they could not prosecute a woman for bringing an ounce in from Holland because she was prescribed medical marijuana.

Yea, edibles don't have the ceiling that inhaling does. Not something I enjoy myself. I'm often offered a batch but I always say no.

Hot kniefing over a gas stove...brings back memories

Oh yeah, some decent hash, a blade and a lighter.

And breathe.

Right now I'm getting the kick from my pharmas added to some beer and "one or two" teaspoons of Carolina Reaper hot sauce I picked up today. Vicious stuff, my tongue is completely numb but, to be polite, it's fucking lovely stuff...

Sorry. I haven’t had time to deal with this like I need to.
I did a super flush a few days ago. Just ph’d water.
Things are getting worse however. I did collect a soil sample and made a slurry to test ph with pen.
I’m getting 5.8-5.9. So it’s appears low. I’m on the hunt for fine garden lime to sweeten things up a bit.
If I didn’t know any better I’d say calcium deficient at first glance. Truth i is I don’t know better.
A previous poster stated all my nutes listed have calcium in them anyway.
So here I am, still not knowing what to do aside from sweetening things up a bit. Not sure how much lime to mix in to topsoil.
Thinking of snipping most of the bad fan leaves, so I can more easily monitor other leaves for changes.
I don’t want to give up on this grow. I’m Almost 4 weeks into flower at this point.
Any more input would be appreciated.
Let’s salvage this bitch.

Yeah man. Sweeten it. You hit the nail right on the head.
I'd even go 50/50 gypsum to lime.
Best of luck brother.

When you leach soil (flush) then you are removing the goodness from the soil.

I'd be surprised if the nutrient's have enough cal/mag in them as they usually don't as everyone's water is different.
Plant to me looks hungry. Id be feeding full bloom nutes and buy a bottle of Cal/Mag and add that at 1 ml per litre for first feed and them 1/2 mil per litre every second feed after that. The Bottled stuff becomes available to the plant immediately and is easily and accurately dosed. ( a Bottle lasts a bloody long time)

After feeding id remove the worst of the fan leaves, not all, just the worst ones so you can keep track and see if the problem is gaining more momentum.

PH is probably OK at that as you would find it swings up and down- your in soil remember. An option next grow is to test and PH your soil before adding plants. No need to ph at all after that. I haven't PH'd my soil for ages.

A temporary measure to raise pH could be found in the supermarket, it's called Baking Soda and is available everywhere and is commonly used to raise pH in aquariums. At least you'll have something until you get your hands on the lime.
