Not curied/dried properly?

Just got 20g of some bud this guy grows that someone connected me with. It looks good but isn't as potent as I thought it would be for home grown stuff. The guy turned out to not really be a stoner and just grew for the money so I don't think he knew alot about weed. I know he freezes alot of it too.

But I rolled a joint last night and had a real hard time getting it to stay lit and burn. The stuff isn't all that dry. Is that the problem?

Here's some pics of it too if anyone knows any info.

trim the large leafs off it, if it's wet let it dry out for a while til the outside is a little crunchy, then jar it and cure it for a little while and it should be good

Not staying lit well could be from an improper flush, or the bud is just still too wet.

I also got a bag from a buddy who gets from him of just like 5g of leaves. It's not the large leaves but the ones that are usually around the bud. Will this get you high? What can I do with it to get the most out of it?

until it feels dry on the outside mate then jar it and open the jar daily for 10mins for a wk or 2 after a couple of days take a joint out and sample it it should give you an idea of how long you'll need to leave it before you find it smokeable for you, also keep the jar in a dark cool spot like bedroom cupboard

hey thatcher 5gs isn't alot normally the little leaves your taliking about (sugar leaves) are used to make hash oil edibles etc you could siv it for the keif but you won't get alot if it were me i'd probably use it instead of tobacco depending on how it smoked but that's just me mate p.s it will get you stoned

Thanks for the info man,

Heres a question. What are the different jaring differences between curing and storing? Once it's dry enough in the jar, you keep it in the same jar for storing (which continues to make it drier). So is there anyway to slow down the dryness so it stays about the same? Or is drier better? I'm thinking like if you got a supply to last you over a month or two.

lol it's JUST leafs? I'd save it. When you want to make some cannabutter or oil, just add that in there, it will add a punch. I hear people use an oz of trim for a stick of butter.

So should I leave it out in the open to dry it?

Pretty much, just tuck it away in a cool dark place

How long should I cure it for?
Doesn't really matter. That's all up to you. The longer the cure the better it gets.

I'd let it dry out so that it's crispy on the outside, not crumbly, and then jar it. Open the jar up once a day and see how moist it is. If it's really moist, take it out of the jar and let the outside get crispy again. If your bud is still wet, and you leave it in the jar too long mold can develop. Smoking mold is bad for your lungs, but you can usually spot it pretty easy.

yeah leave it in the same jars mate aslong as their air tight you'll be fine the moisture will only escape when you open the jars so when they're dry to the point that you are happy seal them up and leave them but check them reguarly just to make sure there isn't to much moisture left in the bud and you get mold but if dry and cured or atleast dry you shouldn't have any probs mate the stuff will last ages if stored in a dark cool place

One last question,

What does drying/curing it actually do? Make it more potent? Make it more smokable? Is it more potent when more smokable?

Just wondering the effect it has on the bud.

Yeah, curing just makes it taste and smoke better. It doesn't effect the levels of THC or how high you get.
