Not sure what to buy

Hi, I'm new to this site and my gosh has it been a great help! Anyway, I'm not too sure on the lights, I know what I need but you guys would have a better idea than myself.

Now I'm not asking you guys to do the work for me as I have spent the last couple of weeks looking up products, I have found a couple and I'm not sure to buy one, the other or both.

I'm growing 3 plants.

First one:

http://cgi.ebay.ie/400W-DIGITAL-Ballast-Hydroponics-Grow-Kit-Lights-HPS_W0QQitemZ320370638315QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_HomeGarden_Garden_PlantsSeedsBulbs_JN?hash=item320370638315&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72:1301|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:0|293:1|294:50

This is cheap but it looks a bit odd.

This one here is the more expensive but better looking option:

http://cgi.ebay.ie/400w-Complete-Metal-Halide-Grow-Light-Kit-Hydroponics_W0QQitemZ150183094586QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_HomeGarden_Garden_PlantsSeedsBulbs_JN?hash=item150183094586&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72:1301|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:0|293:1|294:50

So what would you guys recommend?

Thanks for any advice given :)

What is the size of your grow room/cupboard? I only ask because I was wondering if you could go for a 600 watt which is a much better light.

It's fairly small, about 2x2 meters, would I need a 600 watt for just 3 plants? I have the money to invest in one, but anything I can save is always a plus ;)

Thanks for the fast reply!

Personally I think they are a much better light that will give you much better results although I think you would need some decent ventilation for it. The first light you linked I know nothing about and the second one looks cheap. Im a fan of the HPS lights.

They are 2 completely different platforms. The first light is good for flowering (High pressure sodium) and the second light would be good for veg (Metal Halide).

You will need HPS for flowering so try to find a light that has both MH and HPS or you could get an HPS conversion bulb that will fit into your MH. A 400 watt won't cover a 2 X 2 miter area so you should get the 600 watt as M Blaze said. Good luck with your grow.

That first link says its a Sodium Vapor Lamp (SVP). Is there any difference between that and High Pressure Sodium (HPS)?
