Made a batch of Subcools super soil for outside. Put it in plastic trash cans to let "cook" fopr a month like he says to.
Went out and took the lid off today and noticed there is some white webbing starting to grow on top!
Is this normal or is something wrong?

Usually when doing this you leave it to still air out...so I would say that is just some mycelium, which is a good thing...just turn it back into the soil really...You want it there...once there is a plant in the soil I think the mycorrhiza will be doing something elsewhere and not colonizing on top of your soil...you are supposed to turn this over and I think allow it to get sun during this cooking time...I could be wrong..not tried it, but looked into trying it...

It's not mold, it's actually the whole reason you're letting the soil bake. Let it continue, it's normal. Something to do with building up micro-organisms so they can break down nutrients for your plant.

If it freaks you out, you'll be happy to know that when you mix your soil (immediately prior to using it) you wont be able to see it anymore. :P Haha. But you should post a picture, just so we can see. If it's really, really humid in your area, I suppose it could be mold?
