Novice Grow Op

Hey guys I'm new to RIU. I've used the website in my younger days to get some info in strains and whatnot, but now I'm wanting to grow my very first crop! I don't really know how this damn image upload works but I will eventually haha peace out y'all !



My setup includes a 4x4x76 tent
-1 4' Inline Fan(165CFM)
1 1Gallon Humidifer(since I live in the damn desert)
1 600W MH Reflector
1 6' Clip Fan
1 Mondi Hygrometer
1 Gavita Pro 1000e DE HPS

My medium will be
2 50L Bag of Canna Terra Professional
1 50L Bag of Fox Farms Happy Frog
I plan on mixing the both for a 25/75 mix


Nutes will be
Fox Farms Happy Frog 5-5-5 all purpose fertilizer
And eventually a 2-8-4 bloom fert.
I wanna try to switch over to Gaia Green 4-4-4 APF
And their bloom fert which is 2-8-4.

My strain will be some bagseeds. I can't find any good seeds and I do t have any CC or DC to purchase from seedbanks so yeah lol.

Well I hope to get some tips and advice from this community thanks!
P.S i know using a 1000w is overkill in a 4x4 but it was gifted to me by a friend

Greetings and welcome.

1600 watts in a 4x4 with 165cfm will be about 253 degrees.

Tip: Measure twice, cut once.
Tip: Never put tomato in a fruit salad.

Good luck.

All you need for a 4x4 area is the 1000w light.

But I like tomatoes in my fruit salad
And I'm not running both lights in there haha! I'm hoping to get a another tent to put that 1000w in. Thanks for the tips man

Really? People keep telling me that a 600w is the max for a 4x4 ?

Damn you have a good friend. Nice light! That puppy will easily do a 5x5 area. You can always dim it though.

A 4x4 tent is perfect for a 1000w single end on 100%. Now that DE light can do a 5x5 area if you crank it to overdrive.

A 600 is ideal for a 3x3 area.

Dang, looks like I might just have to get a 3x3 tent for the 600w MH! If anything I would've just ran a 1000w MH in the tent I have now but the way I hear gavita is, that they work with ONLY gavita bulbs. I haven't even heard of 1000w mh gavita only hps. But it was free so I'm not necessarily complaining haha.

I got a 1000 in a 3x3. Its turned down to 70% tho.

Use the 600w MH for veg. Then switch to the 1000w hps to flower. That is a good setup for your tent size. What kinda hood are you using with the 1k? The problem will be heat, you want to get that under control. Best of luck brother. Might have to go to a 6inch vent fan, unless you have a air cooled hood.

Wrong.

Or, you could send the love along, use the 600w and send your pal primo the 1000w.

Thanks man! I finally managed to get my tent to optimal temps for my seedlings 78f/65-70RH. The 1000w puts off mad heat, it comes with a standard reflector for the series. It definitely needs a air cooled hood. As for passing the love, my buddy owns a hydro shop if I get gifted more lights I will keep you in mind bud!.

Oh and if you guys could give me a general water feeding schedule for seedlings that'd be great! I heard of the lift to see if it's light trick but wanna get some more input on other people schedules. I have a 25coco/75soil mix

Good looking out bro, as far as the bagseeds, I have a hard time getting seed's, I live in a non legal place and am afraid to buy them. I have a strain I have been growing for the last 2 years. Some of the best I can remember. I'm currently working on getting it to seed. I run 2 630w CMH lights in a 4x8 tent, in dwc. I still need another one, but I am happy as hell with them.

Oh man that looks fire! I've gotten these seeds from a ounce of homegrown cheese. The buds were definitely more on the sativa side than indica. By non legal do you mean like no MMJ programs or more of a strict/no tolerance type of area?

I look and lift. If the top of the medium looks dry I lift to see if it's lite.

There is no schedule. You water when they need it or risk over watering. The pot weight test is the best IF you can lift them. With a scrog and whatnot thats not an option for some, like me with my big ass trellised plants.
