I can pull over a pound in a 4 x 4 with a 600 watt HPS. I don't know what kind of light you're using but one 1000 watt light isn't going to cover the entire 5 x 8 very well. If it's an LED calling itself a 1000 watt but actually only drawing 200 watts you'll definitely need more light.

Don't worry about what others are getting because if you're a novice grower as you say chances are you're not going to get the yields that seasoned growers get. Focus on a successful grow, keep your plants healthy, and harvest what you harvest. bongsmilie

Wow!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! To be honest thats exactly what I should be focusing on... this is my 3 harvest in the same tent, and yet! have I yielded more then 21g‘s on a plant... I have gotten a lot better over the years but I still haven’t found my touch just yet! I kno what my mess ups are, just getting the kinks out!!!

It depends on the style of grow, strain, lighting, etc... Some strains are bigger yielders. I can fill a 4 x 4 tent with 4 plants growing in 3 gallon pots of coco and pull 4 ounces off of each plant using cheap nutrients and a 600 watt HPS. Others can spend 3 - 4 times as much for the latest LED light, use a dozen bottles of designer nutes, and harvest less than me. So it comes down to the grower in the end which is why I said previously to not worry about other people's yields.
