NPK pellets?

Hey folks. Just starting to plan out my summer 2012 grow and had a question about those NPK pelletts (or sticks) you can put in the soil, that slowly release nutes. I am trying to keep the foot traffic back to my spot a minimum, and I figured I could get away with using some of these things during veg.

Anyone ever use them? Do they work? Would you suggest a specific brand? Or should I avoid them all together?

Any info you all may have would be great.

Thanks green! Good link. Would still love to hear from some people who have used this stuff. Even the stuff you can get from home depot.. I think I saw some made by Safers and Shultz.

i think most fertilizer from home depot is slow release, like Osmacoat. Looking for ingredients like 'urea' and 'coated' can often mean slow release.
